here's what i do and the canna flavor is greatly reduced when using the butter in regular recipes ( i make savory canna "meals" for people going thru chemo so they can eat AND get relief)
2 c cold water 3 sticks unsalted butter 1/4 cup decarbed shake
I use a crock pot so i don't have to constantly monitor
Add all ingredients and put on low. Once butter has melted, stir thoroughly just once Put lid on and let steep for 6 hours. Let cool until comfortable to hold without burning yourself Strain all liquids through cheesecloth and wring cheesecloth to get the rest of the liquids out ( I use a potato ricer to squeeze it, keeps the hands clean and does a better job) Put the liquid in the fridge until butter solidifies. Pull butter out of the container and discard the water Check the bottom for any residue and remove with paper towel or butter knife. Butter is ready to go!!!
OPTIONAL- after this step I usually remelt and strain the butter one more time before molding and freezing. it creates a more clarified product
I find that the longer you let the cannabis steep in the liquids the stronger the flavor becomes but with little to no added benefit other UMAMI
