Hi,
So of course I have heard of this for quite a while now, but I have never actually come across any.
Luckily for me, I am a medical patient and my caregiver makes his own White Widow shatter.
He told me that his White Widow flower are around 16% thc on average, whereas the shatter he makes from the same flowers is an unbelievable 90% thc.
So I am considering picking up some of this.
What I was wondering was how I could use this without having to buy an expensive and fancy oil rig type device.
I don't like vape pens either.
I have two small glass oil burner pipes aka meth pipes which are perfect for vaporization.
Does anyone know if I could use either one of these pipes to vaporize shatter?
And could I do it with a regular bic lighter, or would I need to use one of those micro torch/jet lighters?
I already have a jet lighter, and I was thinking of using one of these which get really hot almost instantaneously and smoke it like one would smoke dmt or meth or what have you.

I wouldn't reccomend using a meth pipe. You can use the old hot knife method. If you have a bong. You can heat the knife,put it in the down stem, then dab off the knife when it cools a little bit. But honestly you can buy a decent rig for cheap on dhgate. That would be the best route.
You could also just put it on top of the bud and consume it that way

Hi and thanks for replying.
Are you saying that I could just smear a little bit onto some flower and smoke it regularly from a pipe with a bic lighter?
I'm not familiar with the heated knife method, but I would much rather try the second ROA that you recommended (mixing with bud and smoking).
Also is there a reason that you don't recommend using a oil burner pipe/meth pipe?

Yeah just take some and sandwich it between some nug and use a normal big lighter. And the reason I wouldn't recommend using a meth pipe. Is because you're gonna get some left over residue (lipids,fats). How much depends on how much it was winterized. Assuming it was. You're gonna be constantly cleaning it. It probably would work. But seems like a lot of hassle IMO.

ya find cheap nector collector maybe pretty slick little units. little oil rigs can be had for cheap now. or just get a banger for ur bong. u dont HAVE to get a small little rig for dabs.
anyway i am sure u will figure it out lol.

I guess I will save the two meth pipes for something else (not meth, ha).
deadkndys: that link you provided has these really nice miniature rigs for very cheap, and they look really nice.
Are they easy to use?
I've never used anything like this before, but would it be perfect for shatter?
And is shatter different than dabs?
What I will be getting soon is shatter.
Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to extracts.

Yeah you just heat the nail up then take a dab once the nailed has cooled. Keep in mind the higher price is for a single order. The cheaper price is for bulk orders. And yes it would be good for shatter,pull and snap,crumble, even full melt bubble hash. Shatter and dabs are the same thing, hash oil. The consistency is where the name like 'shatter' comes into play. Shatter is more "shatterable" while crumble is more "crumbly". I.e. like a cookie crumb.

ok I have some shatter now.
It looks like brownish-golden pieces of glass.
I wonder what to do with this.
I don't have a oil rig yet so cannot go that route.
I don't really want to mix with weed and smoke it either.
I think that I am going to purchase one of those mini oil rigs with the nail.

I have an update.
I just tried the shatter last night for the first time.
It is White Widow shatter, and is 90% THC as opposed to the 16% THC flowers that it is made from.
A small piece was rolled and stretched into a worm-like shape, and put into a rolling paper and rolled into a joint with some weed.
I can't believe how high I got.
Since it can be used this way, is it also possible to just mix some in a pipe (chillum) with some weed and smoke it just like that?
I kind of want to use my oil burner pipe to vape the stuff.
It's a glass pipe made especially to vaporize essential oils and resins, so I would think that this would be the perfect apparatus to vaporize shatter from.
I'm just not sure if I should use a regular bic lighter or a torch/jet lighter.
Deadkndys420 I remember you saying that it can be sprinkled on some bud or between a few layers of weed and smoked normally through a pipe.
This is the route that I think I would like to go.

Hi I have an update.
I used a rig for the very first time last night.
I was at a friend's house.
I remember heating the nail then putting it into this chamber for taking pulls off of it.
But the person had a huge propane tank to heat the nail.
Is this really necessary?
It seemed kind of dangerous.
I realized that you get much more out of the shatter if you vape it through a rig rather than simply mixing it with bud and smoking it like that.
In other words, I got way higher off of smoking dabs properly through a rig with water in it rather than mixing with weed and smoking it.
It almost seems wasteful to me now to smoke it with weed through a pipe or joint.
I want to get a rig now but don't want to bother with huge torch guns or propane tanks.
Does anyone know what I can do?

Buy an enail (electronic nail). I know high five vapes makes quality enails. If you buy the rosin press which is around $300 it doubles as an enail.

Hi friends,
I was wondering something.
Can shatter be vaporized through a glass oil burner pipe, a.k.a. meth pipe?
Smoked exactly the same way as meth, by heating it from below the bulb with a micro torch lighter, until the shatter liquefies and vaporizes?
This is the only pipe I have right now, and I do not want to deal with propane tanks that could burn my house down or rigs and whatnot.
This pipe is actually awesome, its my favorite pipe there is, and it seems perfect for smoking hashish, and shatter as we all know is just super potent hashish.

Yes, as long as you can provide adequate heat without applying direct flame, then you can crudely vape THC in any form.
