Can essential oils be absorbed into buds during flowering?

A little backstory then the question:
When i lived in Hawaii, there were all sorts of amazing smelling buds. One smelt like blueberry waffles. Not just blueberry, waffles with blueberry.
Another smelt like Guava, a local fruit that grows wild in Hawaii.
Then there was this gross one that came from the rainforest city side of the island called Hilo. It semlt like the rainforest of Hilo: mossy, dank (like a swamp) and smelt like wild ferns.
These experiences lead me to believe cannabis buds can absorb smells from the envirnoment, either thru their roots or directly thru the bud.
I have several ideas for essential oils to add to the roots during fruiting. One idea is adding lemon essential oil (diluted in water) to a cheese-strain to make a lemon cheesecake type bud.
Another is to add a sweet extract like vanilla maybe to Soul Diesel to make a sweet and sour combo smell.
Anyone done essential oil experiments? do they work?

There was a product called sweet that attempted to do what your saying but it doesn't work. Many people have tried it and also adding stuff to change the color and so on.
Give it a try you may be able to pull off something they couldn't.

it's probably the humidity of the air making the buds sticky, they'll pick up anything until they find their mater or whatever

Only way I've seen it work is with concentrates. By isolating the terpenoids and flavonoids of say an orange or a grape. And then adding that to the product.

If someone is using sweet to 'flavor' their bud their using wrong. My understanding it's used in flowering to bulk up the buds. Same way you would use molasses. The citrus and grape ones are designed for those types of plants. That said I use sweet raw with good results.

Lol no. You're extracting from an actual orange or grape etc. Then adding the extracted terpenes, flavonoids, terpenoids etc. to your concentrate.

So much bullshit in this thread.
Sweet by Botanicaire is used to bulk up flowers. You are providing simple carbohydrates in the form of sugar that help with growth.
Adding concentrated anything wont affect the flavor of your buds. This is bullshit.

OK i get it now.
Im going to try it.
If it doesnt work thru the roots, im going to try a humidifier with oils in. Hopefuly it doesnt promote mold growth on the bud.

By all means try it. But make sure you're doing some side by side tests to make sure you have something to compare it to.

You'll want to do clones, not seed. You'll get different pheno types using seed

You could always just get these juicyjays flavor spray/drops to put on your bud before you smoke it. http://www.juicyjays.com/splash/?age-verified=875015932b

the longer you grow them the more of a dank smell they get but even then you still need a couple weeks of curing at least
You can't just say one bud smells better than the other initially you just cant
All your oils and stuff would have to be edible by the fungus then that would have to be absorbed by the roots, something like flavor would not depend on what's in the soil
