light cycle disruption, what to do??
    #817578 - 07/31/16 07:24 AM (8 years, 3 months ago)

Well I have my plants on a 16/8 cycle...

Had...

I accidentally caused my lights to stay on 24/7 last night

Question is what would u do in this situation?

I have one plant in this veg room that just got transplanted and will ne flowered in six days...

So, what would u do? Leave em on 24/7 for awhile then change em back to 16/8?

Or would u put em back on 16/8 tonight??

Ty for the input

Well I ended up cutting the lights at 22hrs of light.

I'll put em back on 16/8 the following day

Figured thay was better than leaving thr lights on and NOT giving them a dark cycle for one day... then going back to normal..

Lol for sure, I'm at I'll new and was just trying to make sure it isn't any sort of issue

Did a quick Google search and decided to cut the lights at 22hrs and give em 2 hrs dark. Then go back to 16/8...

It wasn't timer issues I moved some plugs around and forgot to plug my light back into the timer lol. Classic...

Glad to hear it causes no concern for the most part

yea buddy my lights go crazy whenever there is a storm it's mostly power off issues but I have run a day mid flower with lights on cause I was moving shit around and forgot to plug my lights in to the timer I just switched back when I noticed and they came out ok I'm finding pot very forgiving with short burst of inconsistent light but some say genetics has alot to do with that kind of resilience I haven't run in to any issues so far hope that helps

a random day here or there isn't too bad in veg but can throw some plants into shock if they're into flower. I had strains herm out this last flower cycle. One the guy wasn't watering them properly and almost killing them off all the time, but also the timers got fucked with and one of the lights was turning on in the dark period. For an unknown amount of time, but no more than a few days at most.

Not really.
If a plant herms from stress it's still a hermie, and will past the hermie trait.

Exactly right. I stress test plants with water, light, over ripening, root stress and any plants that drop banana's are chucked and not used to make seeds with. This is done with the plants that make the feminized seeds also. There is a difference between plants that drop male flowers under stress from ones that drop them caused a hormone has been made unusable by a chemical.

I'd explain the whole process but it gets long and boring.

Lol Well yeah... u may have missed the point stoneth unless I'm mistaken

I didn't mention stress prior to this post

U have true hermies that throw nothing but bananas... that aren't even worth growing out.. that was my only point...

this is correct yes?? Maybe I'm mistaken..?? I've seen pics of flowers in my research of plants w bananas everywhere almost literally leading me to belive this

Yes any plant that herms will pass the trait so don't breed w that... ty for elaborating tho mag

I cut plants down that popped balls learning to grow, thinking all hermie plants weren't worth growing. No one cared to tell me there is a difference in a plants getting stressed and a true hermie.

When in reality it was just a stress reaction is why I got balls.. Cause I was growing a pheno prone to popping balls... so I need to get  a pheno thay doesn't pop balls...

My point is the term hermie is used all too loosely and not fully understood by many
