First Hydro Grow (DWC)

So I started my first hydro grow last Sunday. I am using a 18 gallon tote with three 8 in. net pots. Unfortunately the air pumps I bought are kinda weak. So I plan on buying a more powerful dual outlet pump this week. The strains are 1. Random seed from Magash, 2.Blue Dream X Unknown Seed I found in some fire bud I picked up two weeks ago, 3. Critical + I got from Budgrower.
I will be using only Fox Farm for my nutrients (Grow Big Hydro,Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom). with the exception of Botanicare's sweetener 'Raw'. I will also give scrOG a try once I start flowering considering I am growing in a closet with limited space. Right now they are under a 150w HPS on a 18/6 schedule. The HPS is about 8-10 inches away. I will be switching out the HPS with a 400w MH in a week or two. So far I am keeping the PPM around 380-410 when nutes are added. And a Ph around 5.2-5.6. The blue dream x Unknown and Critical + roots are already popping threw the bottom of the net. I just put the random seed in a net pot 2 days ago. The roots were really popping through, should be at the bottom of the net pot within 4 or 5 days.
Critcal + on the upper left, Blue Dream Bottom, Random on the upper right.

Lookn nice. I just started my first hydro(also dwc) setup last week or so, got gifted a clone of Julius Caesar to start out. And just ordered an ec meter, ya got one? What kind, I went truncheon. What are you giving seedlings? My pal gifted me a concoction of advanced nutrients root enhancers and such to start out my first bucket full, they are taking off. Just changed bucket yest and started veg nutrients. :\ I feel wild feeding without knowledge of ppm!!!
Cheers

No EC meter here. I use a Milwaukee TDS meter. Right now I'm using about 15-20 ml of grow big at 400 ppm.

Well I decided to put in the 400w MH and take out the two 150w HPS. The Blue dream is lagging behind then the other two. The critical + and unknown are showing nice root growth. No roots showing for the Blue Dream yet.

That's a slick little homemade tub. How do you drain it out to change the water, you put a drain plug on the bottom somewhere?

It's quite the experience, its like a science project for me, monitoring\adjusting ph, temps matter more(for me), keeping the exact premium amount of given ions in your solutions . To me its a world different, and more reactive than soil grow, DK would you speculate the same? I'm throwing my sativa Dom, in flowering this week, see how she stretches.
Cheers Also in Dwc I'm starting to see the benefits brought on by myco and bacterial additives to stimulate root growth, I mean explosive. Testink Mykos on some soil autos currently, we will see what they look like bc ime autos have a tendency to not grow much root system and I believe this inhibitz the plant, generally. I'm using pretty.expensive additives right now but this could be a spark to do,create organic soil with all these built in and use that, particularly outdoor would be my interest, in the future.

Lol forgot i gad this thread.
Anyways I lost the BD one but bought a master bubba clone a few weeks ago. One day my flexible ducting some how came out and they got really stressed from the prolong heat. But they have since recovered. I put them in my greenhouse with really thick 9 mil reflective tarp covering it. My 400w MH is also in their and switched to 12/12. I put them in my greenhouse because I was growing on the second floor and it just gets too damn hot in there. I'll switch over to Fox farm Bloom in a week or two.

Oh shit, that tub looks like it's working out pretty good. The one plant looks a little rough, but the other looks nice. I want to put together a small tub like that soon. I've never used Foxfarm before either, I'd like to watch and see how it does. Thanks for the update

Well I built a home made tent (no mylar) just so these plants will flower lol. When I had them covered in 18 mil of tarp they still wouldn't flower, even after a month. So it's been two weeks since I brought them indoors and I think they're benefiting. They're under 550w Hps. I'm adding my second 150w Hps in a few days. I also bought a carbon filter too control the odor. I've been giving them off big bloom and recently starting adding tiger bloom. This week I starting adding botanicare sweet raw to bulk up the buds. I think from this point on I'm a primarily hydro grower. Much easier than soil imo.
I also popped 6 of mags auto seeds. They're in happy frog and we're under a 150w Hps until yesterday. Right now their in filtered light. I'm thinking if I should put them in ground or 3 gallon pots.

The more i see hps the more I know they suck.
-------------------- If you are interested in 600 watt leds with 10watts per bulb $115 shipped pm me. 2x for $220. (My growlog is a mixture of 3/5/6 watt bulbs) these should produce larger buds than those.
Brand new from factory; mostly red/flowering spectrum lights.
