Dog got some tick bites

So I found a couple ticks that had been biting my dog for a while. We spend a lot of time in the woods and I spend a lot of time pulling ticks off her afterwards, rarely do they get by me and actually bite her but this time a couple of em did.
Anyway, I started reading and realized lots of dogs get Lyme disease but only about 5% of them show symptoms and actually suffer from it, the rest can carry it with no problem. That made me a little less paranoid but I'm still thinking I should go get her tested soon.
What do you guys think?

I don't know. Dogs and people get bit by ticks all the time. You can't go and get tested every time it happens, at least in my book.

I mean if she gets ticks daily then yeah shes prone to catch something but if you make it occasional then she should be fine.
Plus there should be some kinda tick repellent whether its a spray or a collar to protect her.

She gets her monthly flea/tick treatment, definitely works better for fleas than ticks though.

depends on what kind of ticks they were I don't think there is much danger from dog ticks, it's the deer ticks that are the main carriers

Quote:
While many people are concerned after being bitten by a tick, the risk of acquiring a tick-borne infection is quite low, even if the tick has been attached, fed, and is actually carrying an infectious agent. Ticks transmit infection only after they have attached and then taken a blood meal from their new host. A tick that has not attached (and therefore has not yet become engorged from its blood meal) has not passed any infection. Since the deer tick that transmits Lyme disease must feed for >36 hours before transmission of the spirochete, the risk of acquiring Lyme disease from an observed tick bite, for example, is only 1.2 to 1.4 percent, even in an area where the disease is common.

I've never had a dog get ticks before, I guess that's one perk of living in the desert, but there are rattle snakes. I've had one dog get bit by a snake and she survived for years after, now I get yearly rattlesnake shots for my dogs, costs about 75$ each. The biggest problem here is valley fever, never heard anyone mention their dog getting lyme disease, it must not be especially common here

Next time she's at the vet ask them to pull a tube of her blood and see if there are antibodies for Lyme. That will let you know if you're in the clear.
