Looking for some input from anyone that has experience using T5 growing lights.
I just acquired a T5 light figure with 6 bulbs (4 ft fixture)
However the guy that I bought it from used it for his coral reef aquarium. So he has basically that thing loaded with;
aqua blue special blue plus
54 watt bulbs.
I have no problem buying more bulbs such as a sunblaster or other type bulbs in there...
but the question that I am wondering is what would others recommend that I do with the present bulbs.
Should is incorporate some of the aqua blue special and blue plus in with the other bulbs
I have six bulbs that fit in the unit. Wondering if I should mix various bulbs.
any suggestions?

do a test run and let us know it does.. im assuming with being a t-5 of that size wattage you could get something but nothing to huge or monster like but i might be a good light for putting a cloning machine under... or for starting seeds or very very young plants so the light is not to intense and wont stress out a seedling like a strong 400 watt or 600 could

T5s work badass for veg. A lot of people i know use 4 foot 8 bulb units to veg for every 1k watt they flower with and they have the most killer shit.
I also grow peppers under T5s and theyre like 3 feet tall with huge fruits.

Blue spectrum such as your T5's or Metal Halides is most appropriate for vegetative growth and more red/high pressure sodium for flowering.
Bluer spectrums are supposed to lower internodal spacing which will make for a bushier plant which is generally going to utilize light more effectively. As light dissipates further and further away from the bulb so a shorter plant is going to utilize that light more effecitvely come flower.
Simply put, the t5 bulbs you have should be appropriate for veg.

There is a long rather testy thread on rollitup that gets into combining the ATI AquaBlue Special lights with other T5 lights. The AquaBlue are 12000k color vs. 6500k for the "typical" hydro store veg T5. Bloom lights would be more red in spectrum and have lower k numbers maybe 3500k for example.
My advice is to use the T5s you have in veg and then add an HID HPS in bloom. The combination is a very good thing although you probably should split it up in flower with three blue and three red T5s.

Thanking you all for your advice.
Yes my thoughts are to put three sunblasters mixed with the aqua blue special/ blue plus bulbs.
I will do a test for one batch using all one color of blues and the next month start a new batch in veg and then try it with mixing the three sunblasters and blues.
I'll report back the results.
thanks

The aqua blues will work great for veg, but you should only need 2 max at a time. Use the other 4 slots for standard bulbs.

I've heard of people mixing spectrums and getting good results, just make sure you use mostly blue in the mix
