Cotyledons not opening correctly

Alright somewhere along the line I made a mistake that could be either planting too early or planting too shallow or maybe its too dry here. Who knows. There's a clear coating over the cotyledons that seems to be keeping the cotyledons together but I can see the first leaf set between them. Is there any way for me to safely remove the coating? Should I just wait it out?

Don't touch your baby at all. Like, pretend it will kill you if you do.

A pic would really help. What do you mean by reached ground? Or do you mean came out of soil?
I have had to remove seed shells before but never seen anything clear.
This is interesting.

Yeah it doesn't seem like it wants to open honestly the leaves are trying to force themselves out through the sides. The coating is stuck to the cotyledons and its solid -.- 4 days in and no first leaf set I'm almost positive its because the coating on it. My other plant was doing fine until I accidentally stepped on it.

is it getting enough light? what kind of light are you growing it under? The medium? There is actually a form in the diagnosis sub forum if you want the more experienced growers to chime in. Like kaptkid said, a pic would be really helpful.
BTW...Don't touch that baby. Seeds have been sprouting for millions of years without human help. That clear stuff should become brittle and break on it's own if you don't mess with it. You did already pull a plant out when you messed with the first one.

Its light.. I think ill just take your advice and leave them alone. I can see the true leaves trying to push themselves out. Thanks ha ha
I THINK I just planted them too early. I only let them germinate for a day to 36 hours until the taproot came out. I also planted shallow which could be why the helmets stayed on. I planted maybe 1cm in.

I'm going on a whim and assume it is your light. these bulbs wont work. You should grab a 125 watt cfl on the cheap at home depot.

You didn't address the real problem though. We have so many guys that dig up dirt from their yard to plant in and put under incandescent bulbs and then blame everything else besides the actual problem for their plants dying. You should do more research before wasting more beans.
