thanks ,cuz someone was trying to tell me that it means ocean grown and that original kush was also a sativa hybrid and i know vary well middle eastern strains are indicas

OG doesn't just apply to cannabis strains. Its a pretty well known term applied elsewhere. 
Suppose it could be "Over Grow" when read around cannabis forums too (not the strain names, but when used as a noun).

Kush refers to a subset of strains of indica cannabis. The origins of Kush cannabis are from landrace plants mainly in Afghanistan, but are also from Iran, Pakistan, and Northern India, with the name coming from the Hindu Kush mountain range.
That's what i have considered to be accurate. That's from wiki (kush). OG does, indeed, refer to Ocean Grown. I THINK that these were some of the first strains brought over to the US from those adventurous collector/cultivators of the early 70's. They were used in indoor cultivation and hybridized with the current state of the art in sativa strains. The indica features helped to keep the plants shorter for the indoor growth. I am a bit hazy on that knowledge though.

How was I not making sense?
OG Kush is a Cali born strain, obviously part of it's lineage is from the hindu kush region. It is the only mainstream KUSH strain that is a Sativa heavy Hybrid, if I'm not mistaken....

by me not properly understanding the philosophy ov og ,i had unconsciously assumed og meant original ,as in original kush,the indica plants from the hindu kush mountain area in the middleast !

i guess that depends on your boundaries for middle east. I wouldn't consider the kush mountains the middle east. but it's probably close to the border. see here.

To the thread maker. OG = Original Gangster, I believe Ocean Grown is an inside joke.
Inverted: OG Kush's lineage is a mystery as far as I know. I think most people believe it's from a bag of Chemdog either a S1 or a random pollination. Apparently someone claimed that it was bred by him and claimed it was a crossing of Chemdog and LemonThai x Pakistani Kush. I personally am skeptical about it being a S1 of chemdog'91 but in all likelihood I'd bet it's a random pollination and a true mystery.

I've NEVER heard of anything OG, as a strain, considered anything else than Ocean Grown.

Here, everyone calls it Original Gangster. In Holland I think it's always referred to as Original Gangster also. However I'd believe if it started off as Ocean Grown in cali and people just thought original gangster sounded more catchy or whatever.
