A firearm is a political instrument because of how it changes interactions between people.

For example, your ownership represents a statistic by which politics are influenced.
Therefore simply owning influences the political spectrum.
How could you possibly deny that owning does not do this?
Do you suggest that if all the laws in the United States were the same, but nobody actually owned a firearm, that laws would not be influenced?

You know what I actually agree with you on this. Not to the extent that you do though.

Now this doesn't fit cause if we didn't own the guns we wouldn't have these laws. Now if it was the way you mention then I can agree with ya.

but we are in the land of the bigmouth and whoever makes the most noise wins.

Example look at our gun laws yet less then 40% of households have guns here http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/10/us/rate-of-gun-ownership-is-down-survey-shows.html?_r=0 so our politicians don't really go with how many people own guns cause the number are still in favor of those who don't own them by the tens of millions. What happens is the NRA gets there 5 million members to vote along with some other groups and make a lot of noise and they have a far bigger influence then gun ownership numbers. (believe me I know there are a ton of pro gun people that don't get off of their lazy asses to vote either)

I'd say in Canada, Europe, Australia, it's what can you do to get things done. Here it's more a matter of how loud you have to bitch to get things done.

Then again the people in favor of stricter gun laws can use those gun ownership numbers for there side and that would make buying a gun a political activity even though the numbers are in favor of the other side.

30 years ago I fully agree with ya. Now your just buying a gun.

I guess what I'm saying is this. Yeah I agree it's a political activity and one that people use to care about but at this point it's a answer to a question nobody is asking.

(remember my answers pertain to the United States not countries where they rationalize things.)

I need my gun to hunt for food if a fisihing line, or bow/arrow isn't sufficient. Also comes in
handy when me, or a loved one is being held at gunpoint, or worse. Some may say, but istoner,
if we banned guns, you wouldnt need them for protection And i'd say bullshit, we still have lsd,
and that was made illegal way back when.  I'll keep my rifle in the closet, and my colt at my bed
side thank you very much.

Sneaking into the lives of strangers, and letting them fall apart to a new rhythm just to feel better
