Foliar feed vitamin B at pH 5?
    #742573 - 08/02/14 03:04 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I have a bottle of vitamin B(be one) and it says to drop the PH to 5 if you're going to foliar feed. Does anyone know why that would be? maybe the optimum ph for vitamin b absorption?

I recently read a claim that a good amount of vitamin B in flower can noticeably increase trichome production. at least for certain strains. I think I read it as a grow tip for a specific strain and it could be completely unfounded. Vitamin b is also supposed to help prevent transplant shock.

Not sure, probably an absorption thing, that's why we adjust the pH normally. Never heard about it for foliar though.

Superthrive is a bunch of B vitamins and IBA and some people swear by it, but others will tell you its all bullshit. Maybe that's some strain specific response that some never see.

I think of superthrive as something to use for recovery from certain problems.

The Be One stuff says "adjust the PH and soak thoroughly" for rooting and transplanting, then "adjust to 5.5 for rockwool soak" and "adjust to 5" for foliar applications.

Vitamin B1, not be one.

And the reason for pH adjustment when actually feeding through roots, is because certain nutrients are only available at specific pH values.

As far as foliar I don't know, I don't foliar anything

But they're only calling it that because it has vitamin B1 in it.

After looking at it, I wouldn't even use that product

I probably wouldn't have either, especially since only B1 when most other vitamin additives have more than just b1, but it came with a sample pack the company sends out for $12 shipping that's 8oz bottles of silica, b1, nutrient uptake solution(nuts), flush solution, 2 50g MOAB bloom booster packs and some cloning gel. I can't vouch for the company's quality, but that's a pretty good deal for small growers on a budget that want that stuff.

In some DIY hydro cloner video on Gardenpool's youtube, a teacher looking guy says you only need vitamin b1(thiamin hydrochloride) to clone and don't need any hormones. I started using cheap pharmacy vitamin b1 mixed in water and it seems to work fine.
