So I found what seems like a killer deal from Gotham Hydroponics (if anybody is familiar with that company) They had a 400 watt metal halide and HPS dual ballast. The kit came with hangers, reflector, timer, 1 mh bulb and 1 hps bulb and the ballast to run it all for about 160$!. I am in the flowering stage with my plants and have been using the HPS bulb and everything is going great, this is my first grow and watching my nugs get bigger everyday is so exciting. My question is about my ballast/bulbs- I have read a few times that the with these dual ballasts these aren't true MH bulbs or something along those lines.. is that true?
yea, it has 2 bulbs. I just switched it. I kinda feel like what I was reading was about something different, like 1 bulb that is supposed to run both with a switch to switch between them?? The bulbs look right. Also are most reflectors universal as in I dont need a different reflector to run a different wattage of bulb? Yea this place is a ghost town..
I believe the scrutiny you are speaking of has to do with the conversion bulbs (mh/hps) not a switchable ballast.. Although I can state absolutely nothing about the brand you are using. If the girls are looking pretty, no worries. Cheers
