I'm thinking about lifting weights again...

Back in the day I'd stretch then hit the weights in the morning and then go about my day. No extras, just water.
Being 2015 I'm sure shit has changed. Is there anything out there I could pick up that might assist me? Certain vitamins or powders?

I use preworkout powders. N.O. Explode, literally if I feel like shit and there's no way that I'm going to the gym, one scoop and 20 minutes later I am dancing around my room and then can get at least an hour of lifting hard. I restrict my cardio because there are several different types of stimulants. I've used several others include HDPump and C4. I'm thinking of switching to C4, it seems to give me just as much energy without affecting my mental status or giving me the jitters.
My boy who was in the Marine Corps with me put me on an excellent body building routine, he used to Power lift competitively but got out of it trying to avoid injury.
If you'd like the routine I can post it on this thread. I've never really gone on a no-shit fully structured routine as in everyday/ rest day, is figured out and it has helped an immeasurable amount, I'm actually in the best shape of my life out of this program and it's fun as hell, there's not a single exercise that I really dread.

C4 is a good preworkout
Get some high quality protein - optimum nutrition is the best bang for the buck and widely acknowledged and being the best standard protein
creatine is cheap and very useful
splits is a good way to switch body parts up and give rest time
something like
push day (chest/shoulder/triceps) pull day (back/biceps) legs day
if you are trying to put on muscle, don't mix up too much cardio with your lifting regiment. it's counter productive.
figure out weather you are trying to bulk or tone.

If not, then how is a 30 year old considered a pedophile for doing the same thing?
I think y'all need to look up the definition for pedophile.

The whole point of this workout is to really nail MUSCLE CONCENTRATION, basically taking a metal and visionary approach so that when you are doing these exercises you very actively try to feel for the muscle you're working out and isolate it and use 100% of its function. Starting with Medium to Medium Heavy Weight, then after 4 cycles of workout, switch to Heavy weight and drop rep count to 6-8. After that, mix and match Days, or do "2 a days" to keep muscles confused and working different.
EVERYDAY I warm up with 5-10 minutes of low-impact cardio
DAY 1: CHEST/ABs Incline Dumbell 4x12, Dropset 1x6 Flat Dumbell Press 4x12, Dropset 1x6 Pec Fly 4x10 Dropset 1x9 low cable fly 5x10 Fly Machine 5x10 Hex Press on Incline 4x10 Decline Dumbell Press 4xx10 Middle Cable fly 4x10 Abs- Do Whatever you like to do for abs and murder yourself, I highly recommend Front/side planks 30-60 seconds until muscle failure and sit-ups on an exercise ball because I've had injections in my hips they kind of suck and my back sucks too so it's the best way for me to knock out some traditional ab stuff
DAY 2: ARMS EZ bar curls 4x10 Dropset 1x8 Alternate Dumbell curls 4x10 Dropset 1x8 Single Arm Preacher curls 4x10 Dropset 1x8 EZ Bar Cable Curls/Single Arm Cable Curls 6x10 Straigh bar Curls 4x14 Dropset 1x20 Hammer Curls --SUPERSET WITH-- Single Arm Tricep Extensions 4x10---4x10 Tri Kickbacks --SUPERSET WITH-- Single Arm Cable Curls 4x10---4x10 Rope Pushdowns --SUPERSET WITH-- Single Arm Rerverse Pulldown 4x10---4x6
REST DAY 3
DAY 4:LEGS/CHEST Leg Extrension 4x12 Dropset 1x20 Incline Leg Press 4x15 Hack Squat Machine 4x15 Prone leg curls 4x10 Barbell Squats 4x10 (my knees are fucked up so I do not do traditional squats to prevent injury, I put pin exercise ball between my back and wall and squat with that support until I burnout but before muscle failure) Seated Leg Curls 4x15 Calf extension on Incline Leg Press Machine 4x20 Smith Machine Calf extension (stand on board or plates) 4x20 Leg Abduction/Aduction Machine 5x20/ 5x20 Chest: Choose 2 lower pectoral chest exercises and burn out with 2x20
DAY 6 SHOULDERS Smith Shrugs 4x12 Dropset 1x6 Behind BAck Smith Shrugs 4x12 Dropset 1x6 Dumbell Shrugs 4x12, Dropset 1x30 Shoulder Press Machine 1x20, 1x18, 1x16, 1x14, 1x12, 1x10, 1x6 (Add weight each time where the 1x6 should be around 85% of your max) Single Arm Lateral Cable RAises 4x10 Single Arm Rear Lateral Cable Raises 4x10 Dumbell or Barbell Front Raises 4x10 Seated Side Dumbell Raises 4x10 Upright Row 4x10
REST DAY 7
DAY 8 BACK/BICPES Hyper Extensions 4x10 Bent-Over Smith Row (Underhand grip) 1x20, 1x15x 1x12 1x8 Increase weight each set Seated Cable Row (Wide Grip) 2x14, 2x10 Row Machine 2x10, 1x14, 1x12 Lat Pulldown 2x10, 1x14, 1x12 High Row 2x12, 2x10, 1x25 Lat Pushdown 4x12

Few Notes are feel free to mix and match and play with the rep counts, but stick to the number of sets. Keeping to this schedule for almost 2 months I've noticed a massive increase in muscle size and my strength is starting to sky rocket. After you get too comfortable that's when you implement switching the rep count and percentage of weight.
This routine maximizes muscle growth and injury prevention, that's why you don't see deadlift, bench press, or the powerlifting stuff that people love to max out on. If that's your thing go right ahead but this workout is from a dude that has been lifting from the 70's and passed it down through generations.
It's like the exact opposite of Crossfit and I hate Crossfit so this is what I do.

i would stick with less exercises then suggested above. machines suck. stick with a few compound exercises, those are proven to stimulate the most CNS growth by far because they utilize many muscle groups and simulate real muscle movements.

Agreed, squats and deadlifts done with correct form are effective whole-body lifts that will increase flexibility, enhance posture, and improve practical strength. Obviously you want to mix in some upper-body specific exercises to balance everything out.
Caffeine helps me get motivated and stay focused on my form. Additionally, caffeine helps free up Ca+ ions, which play a direct role in voluntary muscle actuation.
Creatine will help with performance and recovery slightly.
Have fun, it really helps with overall quality of life

Grab the P90x or insanity workout tapes and go nuts in front of your TV at home. I think some of the insanity workouts need light dumbells but there shouldn't be a whole lot of extras that you'll need.
Functional exercise like hiking, sports, etc is also an option.

Yes!
I go hiking/backpacking and kayaking on the weekends, it really helps break up the monotony of the gym.
