Is there any other dead fans out there who just couldn't get into them? I really tried but I just don't like them.

i find it difficult to get into the grateful dead. i have a lot of friends that loooove them though. i saw them live in south carolina a few years ago and it was great.
but like phish, i just never sat down with a fat joint and put on one of their records. maybe some day.

i try to get in to them, i like trey a lot more then i like phish as a whole. big oysterhead fan. but i feel the same way about the dead. i like them a lot but i just dont really get in to them like i do some of the bands out today, ie umphreys, tribe or cheese

not a phish or a dead fan. just couldnt get into it. i used to live in missouri, and there was a band called "the schwag" that was a grateful dead cover band. the lead singer had a giant chunk of land in southern missouri called camp zoe, and he'd throw like 6 festivals every year there called schwagstock. it was an absolute free for all when it came to drugs. it was eventually raided by every law enforcment angency and shut down for good though... jimmy did a year and half or so in federal prison and now he's out, and the feds took the land from the bank 
but i remember eating a bunch of L there, and molly, and feeling really good, but still not being able to get into the music like everyone else around me. for me, it's bassnectar and pretty lights that really get me movin. my brain just doesnt understand the grateful dead

I couldn't ever get into the dead. I tried giving them a shot, but it just wasn't my thing.
Side note...
The doors were awesome live! Jim morrison was insane! show me the way to the next whiskey bar. Oh don't ask why.

Phish is awesome man. Saw them live when they came out here in 2013, I was on 2 feet of bridgesii so that was hella fun especially vibing out to some songs I've always wanted to see live.
This is the song that really got me into them: The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday
I actually got into them before I was into the GD. I'm not a country fan but Phish tends to incorporate a country sound into their music that really sticks with me.
IDK I really like their style of musics.

Whenever Phish would come to my hometown, half of the city was backed up with traffic because people would be wandering around all fucked up. One time, I was pumping gas near the venue and some guy was tripping on acid came up and started talking to me. He ended up giving me a 12 pack of beer for no reason lol.

haha nice! I remember walking down Highland blvd, heading to the metro around 1am, head full of cactus when I look to my right and there was literally a whole city block of custy looking kids huffing nitrous like mad men. The cops rolled by and just kept going. I headed home.

Nah man, I'm not into that stuff. I had to work at 5am so I had to rush home, didn't even sleep just enjoyed the CEV/OEVs.
