What should coco runoff pH and solids be?
    #762180 - 12/18/14 05:29 AM (10 years, 9 hours ago)

Is it important to test the runoff pH and TDS/EC of it versus the ingoing pH and TDS/EC?  If the outgoing solids get more than 30% higher than ingoing, should you lower your nutes, for example?  If your outgoing pH goes up to 7.0 like I am seeing with an ingoing pH of 6.0, should I bring the ingoing down to 5.8 for example to try to bring down the runoff pH?

OR, not even bother to measure the runoff if all looks good with the plants?

Yes

Yes, this will help to prevent salt build up and extend the time between flushes (depending on how long you keep your plants and what nutrients you're using).

Thanks.

One "tip" I read recently was the phosphoric acid to drop pH with coco isn't such a good thing.  Too much P affects the Ca and Mg adversely.  So I am testing a product that lowers pH and has citric and lactic acid in it.  I'm also going to dig out some old Earth Juice citric crystals and make it into a solution and try that.
