How long does it take for pollen sacks to reach maturity? I have little indica male that I might want to try crossing with one of my females of a different strain.

I don't know time frame but they "burst" when they're ready.
You can isolate your male watch closely for the first pollen sacs to burst and collect the pollen.

yah, ISOLATE is a key word here. Pollen travels far and will stick to anything, including your clothes. Most people prefer picking the pollen sacks and bursting them their selves to help avoid this.

I've seen people cover their plants with bags with some holes poked through and shit like that.
Also if you had minuscule amounts stuck to you that wouldn't produce too many unwanted seeds right? (in the case that they were unwanted)

The males are now far far away and hopefully I can catch them before they burst. The plastic bag sounds like a good idea, maybe I'll try to make that work.

id try coda's way of crushing the sacs, I've actually seen pictures of this im pretty sure if you even put your plant outside and waited for the shit to burst you could still go to a bursted sac with a brush and pollenate some branches.
it's not like this shit bursts and all the pollen is scattered never to be seen again.

use a paper bag, not plastic. Plastic won't breath as well as a paper bag will and will end up suffocating, or overheat, your branch.

Actually, that's a good question. I'm not sure on the legality of owning cannabis pollen. The only reason the seeds are illegal is because they contain trace amounts of THC. If pollen contains no active chemicals, i don't see why it couldn't be traded. Of course, this would be only useful for those interested in breeding. And even then, that's illegal, so all pollen trades would have to be for microscopy use only  heh
I'll bring it up with the admins and see if it's allowed.

I asked Thor, I couldn't find any legality issues, theres no THC in it appearently.
