So If a plant has a well established root system and one cuts off all the leaves and branches except the main one, will the plant continue to grow and produce more leaves and flowers? Thanks

No. Lollipopping is cutting off roughly half of the plants branches from the bottom to the middle of the plant just before flowering as a measure to decrease popcorn budding to the area of the plant where light is greatly diminished by the cover of the plants' canopy. Lollipopping also directs more nutrient flow to the buds that make the plants' canopy increasing the size of the buds that make the canopy.
The only time I have cut the down all the branches of a female cannabis plant and only left a few leaves was to revert a fully flowered and harvested female cannabis plant that I wanted to make a mother out of. I am not sure how common of a practice reverting cannabis plants like that is or what the name of the procedure is.
So he wants to keep all the lateral branches and just take off everything except the bud sites? sounds like it couldn't have any great benefit considering the important role of the leaves. I'm all for people trying things that seem like a bad idea though. just to potentially discover something new
