You have rats or rabbits in the area? cause that looks like something has been chewing on that stem. I had rats take down half a crop once till I started using traps.

Ya unfortunately. anything I should do to deter them from coming back? I don't really wanna kill em but they're gonna piss me off if they kill my plants so I'm down to do pretty much whatever. Your plants look beautiful btw

They are hard little motherfuckers to keep away. I had entire plants chewed down and carried away. They ate the branches off the main stem so when I came back there were just these big sticks in the ground with no branches.
Piss in the area and try and get it to smell like there is somebody there or dogs. I used synthetic lions piss and after I used that I didn't even see birds let alone anything else. I also had some foxes feeding on the rats in the traps and they helped keep things away till I used the lions piss cause like I said that kept everything away which it's made for.
My area was Mendocino county which is all growers so they sell things like synthetic lions piss at the nursery's.

A sticky barrier around the base of the plant will sometime work and is easy. There is this stuff called tangle foot sold at most hardware stores and nursery's that is just some goop you spread around the plants. I used it outdoors to stop bugs from crawling up the stalk but also noticed the rats stopped at the same time.
Only costs a few bucks
