Seedlings toppled over with shrunk stems... Help!

I germinated using paper towel method and all my seeds were fine. I put them into the mix.
medium: 1/2 peat moss 1/2 perlite
light: MH 400w 90cm away 18/6 cycle
They were fine the first 3 days and grew about 3cm.
In the morning of the fourth day, I found 4 of them lying on the side, with parts of their stems narrowed and shrunk.
I built some more mix up to their necks to help them stand up.. but they don't look so lively as before...
I'm extremely worried. Please help!

Sounds like they were overwatered or the top layer of soil was kept to moist and the stem rotted at the base near the soil. Very very very common mistake with people that are new. I've never seen a seedling survive it.

Thanks for the reply. Is there still hope, then, with what I've done?

I know peat moss can be more acidic than youd normally want for cannabis, but not sure how much that applies to seedlings or if it has anything to do with your issue. Most mixes that have peat moss also add a PH buffer like lime or oyster shells or even egg shells, but the shell stuff can be very slow acting and take weeks or months to buffer PH. You might know this stuff already

Yeah I thinik magash nailed it... also, keep the light as close as you can without damaging them to keep the plants shorter and stronger. Little seedlings will really lank out if they're given reason

an osculating fan would not only make the stem stronger and fatter but also dry the medium out quicker in between watering.
