Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm currently growing 8 plants under a 600 watt HPS in the small corner of a room, but would like to expand my grow.
Each plant is currently in a 5 gallon bucket. There is an exhaust fan as well to the outside. They've been vegging from clone for about a month.
The room size is about 8 foot by 14 feet, with height about 8 feet as well.
I was thinking of expanding the pots to 18 gallon buckets as well, and having 6 - 8 hoods/ballasts/lights of either 600w or 1000w HPS lamps.
Do you think that is over kill? I'm thinking probably can grow about 30 plants at a time in that room, so 5 plants under each light.
No it's not overkill. 6 lights 1000watts each would be good for that size space.
18 gallon pots for plants indoors may be a bit of overkill.
If you're looking for max yield in the space go with SOG

They have a bit of sativa in then so only for a few days.
You could also do these AK47 done with a screen
Bogglegum
A lot of how you choose to grow also depends on the strain.
