Noob question if someone could help me out it would be much appreciated
    #731202 - 05/12/14 02:16 PM (10 years, 7 months ago)

So I have a very small outdoor grow of four seedlings and I was hoping someone could put my mind at rest. I went out thus morning and found one of my plants bent over at the base of the stem so I piled dirt up around the base to keep it stood up right. I've heard a few different things people have told me that when the stem gets covered a small amount in dirt it will sprout some more roots and I have also heard it will cause stem rot I covered it a very small amount just enough to hold it up so I was hoping someone could tell me if they think it'll be OK or not. Thanks in advance.

Don't pack it too tightly and only up to the cotyledon leaves, or the first set (The rounded leaves). With age and rigidity of the stalk, the chances of roots decreases while the chance of rot increases.

A small bamboo stick beside it and a good twist tie will prevent it from falling over in the future as well.
