So based on the results of high temperature/pressure studies at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, chemical composition data, and projected planetary structure, it has been hypothesized that the cores of Neptune and Uranus may be covered in vast oceans of liquid diamond, with solid 'diamond-bergs' floating around through them.
Pretty pimp if you ask me...

It would turn to normal diamond once removed form their natural environment.

Diamonds are virtually worthless already.
They only reason they have a real value is because they inflate the price by destroying some and grossly underestimating how many diamonds there truly are on this planet.
Going to other planets to get diamonds would be pointless when we already have tons of them here.

There is also a diamond with the mass of Jupiter orbiting a pulsar...apparently diamonds are pretty common in the universe.
Going to other planets to harvest diamonds is pointless, going to asteroids to mine rare metals would be much more worthwhile. Most of the valuable metals that are mined from the earth's crust for industrial/technological processes come from asteroid impacts after the crust cooled. When the earth was still molten, all of the valuable iron loving metals sank through the less dense rocky material to the core. This left the initial crust devoid of such metals until it was re-infused via asteroid impacts.
Some estimates place the exhaustion of key elements from the earth's crust at as early as 50-60 years from now. This will make it increasingly difficult to continue our technological progression, as well as make it increasingly more difficult to branch out to resources beyond the earth system. Asteroids are rich in the relatively rare elements that are key to industrial/technological processes, and are relatively close to earth. Unfortunately, "relatively close" does not mean easy.
I would love to design automated asteroid mining probes, and help develop the resource transportation infrastructure necessary to support such a huge project. Realizing how close we are to exhausting our finite resources on this planet is one of my major motivations towards getting my engineering PhD, and one of the things I think about a lot.
