First time grower. The soil I started with turned out to be mediocre. I'm looking into changing my soil over to fox farms ocean forest and am wondering what steps I need to take in order to ensure a successful switch? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You just transplant into a larger pot with the new soil when they are ready. It wouldn't be worth the stress to do anything besides that.

Don't transplant in flower or a week+ prior to it--depending on pot size. You want the plant to focus on flower growth in that phase, not root growth. It will mess the flower cycle up and stunt the plant. I always wait until the plant shows signs of growth again after a few days to develop roots before throwing into flower.

Ok I'm looking to just have a mother to stay in veg. Also, I've had it on 20/4 to save $$ but is it too late to crank it back up to 24/0?
Or is 20/4 good enough?

i always go 18/6. How many days per year do you only get 4 hours of darkness? I never say much difference between 18/6 and 24/0. In veg you should be able to adjust it whenever, just not down to 12/12 and it should be fine.
