Okay I've been building my grow box and a question arose. Is there any reason I can't cut a hole in the top of my box and set my MH/HPS light fixture on top of the box. This would allow a smaller box/more room for the ladies. My plan was to move the plants towards the light with an adjustable shelf. Thanks so much you all have been very helpful.
One last question you posted on another one of my threads about a galaxy ballast for both MH/HPS. The price seems right for the 400watt version I saw, have you used something similar? I plan to cool the ballast outside of the cabinet for longer life. Do you think this ballast will hold up for a while? I am interested in this ballast to keep from buying two different kinds. I can buy a MH and HPS magnetic ballasts locally. In your opinion are digital ballasts better than magnetic. Thank for all the help Joe as always you and the people on this site are fantastic, sorry I rambled on just had my 2nd tall mug of homebrew.
you can literally fry an egg on a magnetic ballast. No joke. Their noisy as hell and produce a ton of heat. A digital ballast costs a bit more, but they're more cost efficient to run and produce less heat.
So yes. Digital ballasts are a better choice. Unless money is holding you back.
