is it wise to pasteurize kellogs patio plus for indoor? I believe it says weed and pest free on the side but there are small hole punch sized holes going down the bag.
what do you guys think?

No.
The holes are to let out ammonia that manure makes.

cool those little fungus gnats are notorious but I guess their not to hard to deal with if I get them again. Would be nice to skip the pasteurization

I would avoid using kellogs indoors.
Those gnats can be a real PITA.
What I have started doing is spraying the soil with organocide. Seems to keep them at bay.

Well I can't really tell you for sure. But I've never had an issue with their soil, period.
It could be that they just have stricter standards at the plants. Not real sure.

that makes sense, ty for the tip as well. later on down the road I may give it a try but I'm having to be a penny pincher these days.
I just went ahead and did a 160 degree pasteurization for 15mins or so. Threw in a handful of DE, may water in with mosquito dunks as I go and then eventually do the sand covered top. I think I got them so bad last time around because I was raising cactus seedlings and they were already in the house. I'm being extra precautious this time around. plus winter is coming so that should help.
found out that Indonesian bat guano raises the soil ph too, I think that plus my tap water being 8 were my issues last time. now I've got a ph meter im expecting a smoother operation

Manure doesn't make ammonia. Manure for soil pre-mixes is sourced from stables and coops. Manure sourced from stables and coops has ammonia in it from the animals having nowhere else to piss and shit except for where they stand. The holes in the bags help encourage the unsavory ammonia in the manure to be volatilized into the atmosphere though.
Growing other plants in indoor areas designated for the growth of cannabis encourages gnats and other pests and diseases to contaminate cannabis grows. Only grow cannabis in indoor gardens intended for cannabis growth. Root wounds, nute-stressed plants, soggy growing mediums and high humidity are also open invitations for fungus gnats. Water with a PH of 8 will definitely lock out all kinds of available nutrients in the soil from the plant's roots.
