Junky
    #686962 - 09/30/13 07:37 PM (11 years, 1 month ago)

I just bought this book the other day, Junky by William Burroughs

It's very entertaining so far... Some of the drug information, especially on cannabis, is extremely outdated.
It's fascinating.

Who has read this book?
Thoughts on it?

I bought that one and and The Psychedelic Experience: A Manual Based on The Tibetan Book of the Dead by Timothy Leary, Ralph Metzner, & Richard Alpert.
I've TPE online before and I have a copy of the TBOTD, but I thought it would be neat to have a copy of The Psychedelic Experience on hand for when I get my mushrooms or order some MXE.

I got 1/4 of the way in and grew tired of it fast. I still intend on finishing it because I never leave a book unread once started but I don't  know when now; there are more pressing reads I need to get my head into like finishing HST's On The Campaign Trail '72 for instance. Also want to buy & read Jerusalem: The Biography by Simon Sebag Montefiore before finishing Junk too.

I prefer Naked Lunch by far.  I didn't finish Junkie either.  I got in to a Kerouac kick half-way through Junkie and it isn't drawing me back.

Campaign Trail 72 was a real eye opener when I was 15.  I kept wondering if HST was totally bullshit after reading Fear & Loathing, so I tried 72 to see what else he had to offer.

I am not a cannabis grower.  I find the cannabis growers to be the most open to experimenting and sharing out of all of the different botany groups I enjoy.  I frequently use the suggestions that I find to apply to own organic gardening and food production.

I've been wanting to read both of those actually.

Anybody hear about the movie "Junkie" Coming out in november? It's pretty unheard of but the trailer looks pretty fucking good.

No idea if it's based off the book

It's an Adam Mason movie, so I can assure you it will not disappoint
