Grind a 1/4 pound in industrial size coffee grinder. Boil in 180 proof Everlcear. Strain. Repeat. Cook off the alcohol. Leaves oily sludge. Cook in frying pan to remove any water or alcohol. Water can cause mold. Learned this the hard way. Put sludge in jar. Add a little finely powdered cellulose until you get a solid. Use little metal scoop to scoop out your concentrate. Smells really good and hits hard. I got about 2.3 g of concentrate per eigth of weed. Learned this method with book Cannabis Alchemy by D. Gold. We rigged our own distiller as the book described, but a coldfinger would be best. We didn't know about coldfingers back then. I used to give the homeless guys who sold weed little scoops of the concentrate, and this one old hippy told me my hash was really good. The book refers to this product as hash, but we called it solvent hash. You can torch it out of glass or put it on a screen and suck major butane. A volcano vaporizer would be ideal. I like this extraction method because it gets all the components out of the weed. Some of the highly volatile terpenes make their way into the alcohol. The alcohol smells really good! This is probably redundant, but I had fun writing it up.

Cheap way to get more professional solvent hash: The water wash. Boil your pot in water and discard the water. Reduces yield and changes high drastically.
If you make hash with methanol, you should get gold hash. I don't know where to get methanol, and it burns with invisible flame. That's why race car drivers jump out of their cars and clear some distance before they breathe after a crash.
Ether is explosive and extremely dangerous for the amateur. It leaves all the water soluble components behind.
Drinking alcohol is very safe to extract with. We tried setting some hot Everclear on fire and there was no explosion or anything of the like.
It's good to get a pizza when you extract. You can smoke the gummy stuff that builds up in the coffee grinder while you wait for your hash to cook. Save a bud for wiping up the residue from the pots and pans.

methanol can cause blindness, and 2.3g yield per 3.5g of herb just sounds crazy. someone delete this thread.

Most of the weight is the oil. With Mexican shwag you get 1 g per 3.5 g bud.

You can get a QP into a small jar. It has a really good hit. The buds don't really get you high the same way any more.

The oily sludge is too messy.
I'm sure the CO2 or butane is good, but alcohol is safe and effective.
This extract melts and bubbles and it smells really fucking good. It's good through a bong.
I don't think you could dab this stuff.
