Well you should have left it where it was.  The mother was probably nearby.

Almost certainly.

I wouldn't respond to one of your threads on any other occassion...but this is serious.  If you call anyone they'll pretty much come and kill it for sure.  You MAY be able to find a rescue nearby that will take it 'off the books'.  Its worth looking.

If it has only been a couple hours since you found it, then there may still be a chance you can take it back.  If it was in an area where you can get a good distance away and keep eyes on it then do so and wait a few hours to see if mom comes back.  If you just take it back and leave it where you found it then there's a small chance the mom will find it, but it will probably starve or be killed.

If you are ready for a full time job for the next couple months, this is how you can raise it.

Keep it indoors in an area like a warm garage or basement or something and put down newspaper or something and change it out very often.

FEED IT NOTHING BUT WARM, GOAT'S MILK.

Get a couple baby bottles and some of the canned goats milk from the grocery store and dilute it a little less than indicated on the can.  So if it says mix a can with 2 cups of milk, mix it with 1.5 cups or so instead.  Warm to 90 degrees and feed through bottle.

IF YOU FEED IT COWS MILK IT WILL DIE!!!!

They need to feed every 2-3 hours, all day long.  You won't be getting much sleep the next couple of months.

Here's one of the most important things:  They need to be encouraged to pee and poop.  Momma usually will lick their butthole to do so..but you'll use a warm, moist waschcloth.  Gently rub its anus with the cloth..wait a couple seconds and do it again.  It should shit, then make sure to clean it well and then to clean the floor so it doesn't lay in it.

If you don't stimulate it to shit, and then clean its ass, it will die.

When it starts to shit on its own you can stop.

Begin bringing it outside after a couple weeks if it is healthy. Be careful, at six weeks it will be able to outrun you for short distances.

I'd say the chances of you keeping it alive for a week if you do everything above is around 30-40%.  If you do anything different it is 0%.  If its still alive in a week I'll give you more instructions on getting it re-introduced to the wild.

Bringing it home was a fucking stupid thing to do.  Good luck.

Having lived in the Mendocino woods for most my life I can say you have a few problems. First you're gonna have to do what Angus said for the deer and I have the feeling you're not gonna do that for months on end.

Now the plants. You just found a deer in the area so if your not putting up something to detere them you have no chance in hell of harvesting anything. Same goes if you have rats in the area. They strip the branches off of the plants even full size ones. For deer I bought synthic lions piss and I don't know if California deer know what a lion is but they seem to know they don't want any piece of what ever left that  piss behind. I haven't seen a deer near my grows since I started using it.
Here I am setting rat traps.

I'd take the deer back and smoke a few bowls from a distance while you watch it and see if the mother finds it.

Oh man, I hope you take the responsibility to fully care for it.  Poor thing probably pretty confused on where its mom might be.

Good luck, when you can finally release it into the wild it will probably come back once in a while too, like a wild companion.

So far the little deer is doing ok eating and shitting all over the place.I  guess i was to feed it like every 3-4 hours?
I tried but the sucker wont eat till its ready and when shes ready she tries to push me over looking for a nip!!It pees on it own I guess. Plus I read that it has to eat dirt from its habitat  so it can get used to the plant life.
I would put up some picks of the deer but I can seem them when im logged in but when Im signed in It tells me I deleted thwm so till i get this fig. out no more pic sorry.
The problem I see so far is that it got like an eye infection. So I have been cleaning its eyes witha warm rag really dont know what else to do for that ?? Any help would be appreciated Thanks!
