Starting a small grow within the next week and wanted to make sure the equipment I plan on using is suitable:
My Setup plan: 4' x 2' x 5'grow tent http://growace.com/grow-tents-1/48x24x60-ga-reflective-grow-tent.html 6in booster fan (165cfm) for $30 6in carbon filter (for when flowering starts) 600w dimmable ballast lumatek 400w mh n hps ( I plan on doing 600w grows later so that's y I got the 600w ballast since I can dim it to 400w for this grow) Soil grow (fox farm ocean forest with 30% perlite. If anybody has any better suggestions on the medium I'm all ears) Currently have jacks all purpose for flower n veg. Treated me good last grow so will just use it up for now. Plan in putting 3 plants in the tent n LST the crap out of em with topping just once perhaps. Looking to grow either sour diesel, og Kush, or blue dream
Any improvements to be made? Thanks for looking! And i appreciate any comments n suggestions from everyone.

Well a booster fan is meant to be used in conjunction with an inline fan, when having a long length of ducting. You need to buy an real inline fan.

I was looking at an inline fan at first but thought it might be overkill for such a small space of only 40 cubic feet? I also read on some posts of others getting great ventilation with a 6in booster with 400w n Carbon filter. All these 'success' stories made me lean more towards a booster from the inline.
Do u advise against this swap to booster? Considering no lengthy ducting n a booster which has 165cfm in a 40 cubic feet tent?

If you are running through a carbon filter, you will need to use an inline fan.

Ok thank u. Good thing I didnt get the fans yet, knew I should have stuck to my first choice.
Considering the lumatek ballast, do the bulbs need to also be lumatek? Or is it only the wattage that needs to match?

You'll definitely want a real fan if your using the carbon filter, otherwise you *might* be able to get away with just that small fan with no ducting/filter running straight out of a tent. You'll need a speed control too. Its pretty easy to build a fan controller for $20, but there only around $25 new. Running the fan on full blast all the time is a waste of electricity, but also noisier. I would maybe use the booster fan as air input but then keep a regular fan with the carbon filter on low all the time, crank it when its warm. with that small of a space you probably don't need that booster fan though.
By keeping the fan on low at all times you keep the carbon filter active, but also prevent the humidity from creeping up at night. I've tried a few environment controllers, but have yet to find one that will leave the fan on low when the temp/humidity are within range--I just had a cop tell me he could smell my plants when I had it where the carbon filter was only running when the temp/humidity in the tent was too high... bad idea not running the carbon at all times.

Good info on the fans. Ill def get an inline n now a fan controller added to my list!
Here's a bold question about the fan. Ill be getting a 6in that pulls 440cfm approx. lets say there are 2 tents with dimensions of 4x4x7' For 112cfm each so 224cfm total. Couldn't I use the sole 440cfm inline to vent both tents at the same time? I.e. placing fan in 1 tent with ducting venting out both tents n connecting to the inline with a 2 to 1 connector?

I have a 8" booster fan between a 4x4 (passive input) and a 4x8, with the carbon/fan pulling out of the larger tent. It works great, but you'll need to test your setup. I try to keep the larger tent under negative pressure to make sure its sucking more through the booster fan.

Looks like the exact same construction as the eco plus. Probably the exact same fan, just constructed for a different company. If so, then they are decent fans.
You could also google it.
