So far as duplicate usernames, all registered Shroomery usernames are being reserved here at the Growery for about a week's time. Anyone who tries to register a name that already exists at the Shroomery, must register with the same password, otherwise they will not receive that name. So we are doing the next best thing by allowing people to keep their identity if they want to.
If memory serves, we have periodically purged accounts from the Shroomery database that either have never logged on, or have zero posts and haven't logged in for y amount of time. We definitely aren't going to reserve all registered Shroomery names here indefinitely.
