Has anyone tried this? Seems simple but I foresee clogging or some real problems if you dont have a bigger pot and that bottle is taking up to much root room or not offering enough moisture to the whole pot.

My uncle uses deep watering with his various trees. He uses a pvc pipe and it seems to do well.

Deep watering with trees is great, my dad does it as well.
I am pondering how well it does with a bottle in a pot

If you are in a container it is completely unnecessary.

Ive deffinetly done this dozens of times! I use a 2-litre bottle. This is only a method I utilize when I plant outdoors. It serves 2 main purposes, 1. Water will only be absorbed by dry soil, so when its been hot and dry and maybe you havent time to go see your ladies, the bottle will tide them over for a few days. (only if the cap is on, if the cap is off, water evaps in about 12 hours.) 2. Not needing to go to your ladies for up to an extra 2 days decreases the path you make to them, and decreases the chances of you being caught next to them.
I like it. One year I went away camping for 7 days and it didnt rain even a drop while I was gone, normally id be shitting bricks knowing my plants cant go 7 days without water in the heat we were having, but the 2-litres was just enough water, judging by the way they looked when I did get back, they certainly would have near died without this method. The one downside is bringing enough water to water your plants, and fill the bottles. For me it was a 1.5km hike into the forest where my babies were, this meant I was carrying upwards of 30L 1.5km. Not so fun. But, Id rather carry 30L 5 times, than 15L 10 times.

That sounds pretty interesting.
If i ever end up out doors I want to impliment this method! Have you ever considered a gallon jug or something instead of 2 liters??

Yes ive considered a larger jug. When I went away for a week, they did suffer drought stress even with the 2-litres, and had I used maybe 5 or so litres they would have not suffered at all. I have since moved indoors so this is useless to me now, but I was helping a friend build a huge one, which consisted of a rain barrel with 10 hoses coming from the bottom, which ran out to bottles burried with his plants. The planting plots were all roughly 25 feet from the barrel. We built the system and in theory it would work awesomly, but it was built too late in the season and was never used. It was supposed to be able to hold enough water between rainfalls that walking out to the plants became unnecessary all year long (his garden being about 2km into the forest as well). But like I said, we built it, and never used it. It should be sitting in his garage still, ill ask him if hes setting it up this year. If not we have the worlds biggest 10 person beer funnel!
