oo well it was about halfway down the page the biggest paragraph, but they say that flushing regularly helps get rid of the excess salts and nutrients, should flushing be done only when there is problems with the plant?

Flushing that often is completely unnecessary. Especially if you keep it light on the nutrients.
You shouldn't have to flush more than twice a grow.

oo ok and I usually do keep it light with nutrients usually the minimum stated on the label.
