Importance of flushing?

I am a soil grower, using foxfarm nutrients. According to the feeding scedule I need to use a seprate product called sledge hammer flush 4 times in the life of the plant. Now I am curious as to the importance of flushing and you guys' opinions on the produce recommended to flush "Sledge Hammer"
What does flushing do exactly? What are some alternatives to using Sledge Hammer or other chemical systems?
Nutes I use are FoxFarm Bigbloom, Growbig and Tiger Bloom.

Flushing helps prevent toxic salt build up. I think 4 times is a bit excessive. I do it once right before I switch it over to flowering, and then a small flush before the last 2 weeks of flowering when you start feeding plain water.

Sledge hammer and other rinses are designed to reduce the amount of water needed to properly flush. With plain water you need 3x the amount of container i.e.: a 5gal takes 15 gal to flush.
With sledgehammer you would only need to use 2x the amount of water instead of 3x, so the same 5gal would take 10gal with sledgehammer to flush.
Now thats just what theyre supposed to do. Ill be honest with you, since that stuff came out ive had a lot of customers come in my store asking for it cuz they use the ff line, but it seems like all of em say they wouldnt rebuy it. Too pricey and not a big diff, and it seems like the ff really wants you to use up your nutes asap. At least in the new schedule they reduced the big bloom from 6 to 3...but anyways
I use the ff line from time to time and dont really get salt build up...in ocean forest soil...well soil in general. I dont see a point in using a flush product unless you have a lot of build up or youre growing in straight coir or somethin wrong. As hawk mentioned above, i too only flush when switching from veg to flower and for a final rinse.
And flushing organics is a whole nother topic completely cuz you cant flush em out, and the big bloom is all organic......check the organics forum. I dont wanna start another rant.

Now as a soil grow, i have over watered before :/ I don't understand the logic of over watering on purpose? Its a very noobish question but.. Do you just run the water thru the soil and rootball, allowing it to drain out the bottom? Is the idea to just wash the stray salts or whatever from the soil?
How do you flush?

Although it may start a "Rant." Why can't i flush organic, which I am growing organic. Are you, Hawks, laughing at the fact he said that? Or at the rant comment? Is that another thing Sludge Hammer is good for is flushing organics?

You flush to wash out excess salt build up. I started ranting because if youre doing the ff trio then when you flush youre really only trying to get rid of the grow big and tiger bloom. Sure a little bit of the big bloom will rinse off too but the npk on that is already pretty much 0-0-0 so what are you removing?
And the organic solids in soils arent going to just wash away. Organic nutrients dont provide readily available nutrients the way synthetics do. Instead, bacterias and microbes break down the organic matter and give off nutrients available to the plant. In a general sense organics dont feed the plants, they feed the soil, which in turn feeds the plants.
Over watering is different. I wait til my soil is dry and needs water anyways and then flush and count it as a watering. I usually do one gal pots with 3 gal per flush but i use 2 gal plain water and the 3rd gal i use nutrients.
I only do that when switching from veg to bloom. Final flush i use just plain water.
Flushing to correct deficenciezzz is different.
Check the organics forum. You started me up again and Im on a phone and tired of typing.

And the big bloom is organic. The grow big and tiger are not. Just fyi.
Difference between organic and organic-based

I am not sure if you are talking to me but here goes. At the beginning of this post there is an entry about 5 or more options about soil combos and such. Reading down further I was not able to pull out pertinent information. As i said I am learning I do not know what info is important or not. So, pardon for my ignorance! i gotta come a long way in a short time.

Yes I was replying to you. I'm not sure what forum you are talking about.
And I can't find what you're talking about on soil in this thread. This thread has been about flushing.

Either you or I are confused. Can you just restate the topic you're talking about? 5 combos of what (copy/paste)?

That's all you need man, for a basic grow. The flushes and other products on that schedule are optional. The basic trio will do the job all by themselves.
