So, I work nights as a maintenance man. Right now I do odd jobs, most people have a specific thing assigned.
My buddy who had an assigned area quit. It's a stupidly small area with almost nothing to do. I declined the offer to take it, it pays less and my boss is a dick about being constantly working.
They've gone through 3 New employees in the last months for that spot. So I figured I'd ask him if he wanted me to do it. I requested another small spot be added on so I'd have more to do.
Instead of appreciating my offer to do a shitty job nobody wants PLUS adding more work to it, his only answer was "why didn't you take it before"? So, pretty much "no."
Hard work and determination sure gets you credit. Fuck that guy. Stick your neck out offering help and get told off.

I can agree with asshole bosses. mine give me 4 weeks to paint/fine finish a list of stuff on a multi million dollar house. Now 2 weeks in he is telling me I am taking to long. This house, I was specially requested to do because of my high standerds of finish work. He comes today (my boss) and wants me now to do a half ass job because he fears he is gonna lose money. He thinks I will not be done on time. Hello!!! Its 75% wood work and trim. Anyways, enough venting. it is what it is. but I am not gonna do a half ass job when I was chosen for my standerd of work. nuff said!

Agreed, and I'm 95% positive the homeowner would want someone to have a working model greater than "get it done"

This guy is fucking idiot. I have done the finish work on many expensive custom homes. You cant rush it. Period.

I'm cool as fuck to the people I manage. They always get their work done even if they slack off they do a good job and I'm fine with it. Damn boss acts like he is paying me out of his pocket.

this boss of mine is quite funny. I swear he bids these jobs like a latex house and then expects work to be done accordingly. I have no fear that I will not have it done in the allotted time frame. My work is what got us back there to begin with. 2 years ago I did some woodwork (sikkens paint) and my work still looks good till this day. The owner is anal about his castle and would not tolerate any thing but the best work. Sometimes I want to just go into business on my own. Most places in the past have had nothing but good reviews. Just my employer is a greedy bitch who wants to make tthe most money he can even if it means being half ass!
