is stress a factor in determining smell?

sorry to make 2 threads haha just reading back up on the indoor season.
I remember when I started out that smell was a huge issue. each indoor season since its been greatly reduced. I've since started only using coir and perilite, have fixed my ventilation and heat issues, dialed in my feeding and learned about the plant.
the only times I ever notice any smell is when the girls need water or in the week before harvest when I'm flushing...the two most stressful things they encounter if everything goes as it should.
I know genetics play a huge role, but when I can smell them in the room outside the closet, I know there's something wrong. maybe its just my specific setup, but it seems that way to me.
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head. Why should that mean it isn't real?

Usually the healthier they are the more they smell man. It's definitely shouldn't be stress related.

I pick low odor strains on purpose. they definitely get an awesome smell as they cure but almost none during growth.
that's why I posted, I changed up what I feed with and I'm wondering if they're lacking something that used to make em stink or if its because they aren't stressed.
for the first few run, I have plants who never got a burn or a deficiency. they smoke real nice, but no smell.

well the smell never escapes the room with the closet in it. when I walk in and smell skunk, I check and the girls are dry. not wilted, bit probably close.
its kinda neat really haha. its like they're just letting me know they need my attention.

when I first started, I once smelled my blueberry cross 4 houses away down the road when it was windy and the window was open lol. I knew it was mine because it was a really awesome fruity dank smell.
I've learned to contain it since then of course, but its funny to think about.

Smell is going to be critically important to me too.
I built the DIY carbon filter from the tek that I found here.
Here it is half-done:
It will have a full 4' of length filtering air. It is taking about six bags of carbon pellets to fill.
It will be placed high in the tent and will precede the intake on the lamp which is currently bare (which means that my air intake is as low as the light which I have fairly low) Not to worry, as the seedlings are down even lower.
If I must, I will go ahead and buy this eBay package, posted here, as it includes a 6" fan which a second filter will require.
I figure that two fans and a bucket of Ona will have to do the job for a 4'X4' tent. I do not want the smell getting out of my man-cave.
BTW: which "flavor" of Ona is best? I want no smell, not strong flowers.
The babies got their first watering today, and seem very happy:
Sorry for the thread-jack....but I am needing to pay attention to "smell threads". :0)
Take care,
JD
