For those wondering, the spigot has Teflon tape on it to make it more waterproof. Then I used a beveled union water collector to connect the spigot from outside the container to inside.

Yes, thanks! Simplicity is what I was going for. For the root structure of these plants I think smaller nets would have suited better. The plants eventually grew up to the light causing the lefts to blacken and die. I got tired of maintaining this setup so I put the plants in glass containers and some water.

and thatll work without oxygenated water? iv never ever read much on hydro yet ( Jorge's bible is in storage till this weekend)but plan on getting very familiar soon. what kind of maintenance issues do you have other than balancing water temp and nute balance that any other grow medium might require?

no oxygen caused the plants to die after a week, but I didn't care cause it's not pot. At first I had an issue with the nutrients i was using, because it was homemade nutrients I made from a manure pasteurization for a shitake grow. The silt got caught up in the root structure and roots were permanently brown and dirty. Also, the silt clogged the blue sprinklers and made a mess of the entire system. Another problem was the calcium buildup clogging the sprinklers. My place was at room temp the entire time, so I did nothing for temp control. After dealing with the mess I switched over to Miracle Grow, which worked well.

Miracle Grow isn't designed with pot in mind, just some fruit for thought there. Also in hydro the more air in the water the better. Roots need to breath. I also recommend doing awya with those dipper/sprayers you have on your dip lines. They tend to be more of a pain in the ass, than helpful honestly.

The dippers do hold the hoses in place though. I'd use them again. yeah more oxygen would have been better results.
