    #634198 - 08/08/12 11:04 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

3. How tall are your plants?foot tall
4. What size containers are they planted in? half gallon
5. What is your soilless mix? peat, verm, clay granules
6. How often do you water and what type of water do you use?when there completely dry, tap water with much calcium, but otherwise good quality. Our town is very proud of it's water quality.
7. What is the pH of your water? downed until about pH 6
8. What kind of fertilizer do you use and what is its NPK ratio? HESI Hydro Flower, NPK 3-4-5 and since I noticed mold growing on the medium, I used some stuff with brown algae extract, it says "strengthens the plant's immune system".
9. Do you foliar feed or spray your plants with anything? no
10. What kind of lights do you use and how many watts combined? 150W HPS
11. How close are your lights to the plants? 1-2 feet
12. What size is your grow space in square feet? 2x4
13. What is the temperature and humidity in your grow space? temp high seventies or low eighties, RH no idea.
14. What is the pH of the soil? Update: Around six
15. Have you noticed any insect activity in your grow space? nope
16. How much experience do you have growing? one half grow (killed that hermie)

Sry I have some problems with my cell phone. All of a sudden the leaves on apparently healthy plants got spotty any the tips shriveld...

Ok folks, after I sprayed my plants with an algae extract that was advertised as strengthening the immune system, they all show symptoms of what I believe to be some kind of mildew. I'm wondering as how to proceed now. Yesterday I bought some universal fungus-free stuff from the gardening center, either I use that on the plants (poisonous to water organisms) and wait the recommended 14 days after that or I harvest them RIGHT NOW!

For an eventual next grow I have to get some things straight:
- Is is wise to use algae extracts on hydroponic systems?
- Will the possibility be higher to have mildew again after it showed up once?
- What can I do against mildew? (don't just say use a sulphur burner, I have a cabinet grow)

as far as i know, mildew is caused (in most cases) by light leaks in the res. or not replacing the water enouph.

so paint your res white and replace the water more often? idk, just trying to help out

light proof your res....  keep res temps lower with plastic water bottles that have been frozen in the freezer and change your rez more often you shldnt have a problem.  Just make sure you clean everything out very well with some lysol before you start again.

Haha fine lol
So I don't know if that's good or bad news, I bomb'd them with some fungicide (in the cabinet inside my room) which was a very stupid idea because I don't want to poison myself and my room.
I'll have to keep the window open the next three days.
I hope the mildew get's better now. next time I'll try sulphur. I heard there is elemental sulphur to spray plants with which oxidizes to sulphur dioxide, the base of sulphonic acid. That should have the same effect like a sulphur burner...
