Air Scrubber advice...

Hey guys,
I have a huge problem with the smell coming from my grow. I have a carbon filter installed, but it still gets outside and my neighbors can smell it. I have my medical card, but I'd still rather keep my operation a secret! I'm looking to invest in an air scrubber. I need something that is damn near 100% efficient, and something that I don't have to replace all the time. I also would rather not spend a fuck load of money on it. Is there a scrubber that any of you could point me to? Thanks in advance!

i bought one of theseto try it out. liked the idea of a cleanable carbon filter. and it works great! after i wash it out, i have to shake it out and put it in the oven on 150 for like 8 hours to dry it out. otherwise it takes like a week to dry out. paid about 120$ for the 6 inch.

The key to a good carbon filter is making sure you get a setup that's big enough for your grow space. That's the number one reason people have smell issues.
But a good carbon filter and fan setup does cost money......that's just a fact of life.

Money is never the main issue. It's TOO MUCH money that I have a problem with. I know good gear costs good cash. I'm completely OK with that. I have a couple filters, but they aren't cutting it completely. My tent is only 4x8x6.5....but it still stinks up my street....insane. I'm just trying to find something more efficient that will make me happy for more than 6 months. Filters have proven inefficient. I think I may have found some scrubbers in the $300 range

That's an appropriate price for the charcoal filter without the fan....

What would be the most ideal way to set one of these up in my tent? I have a 4x8x6.5 tent, and obviously it is being vented (through a carbon filter). Where would be the best placement for this thing? My air is being sucked up into my attic, which then vents outside. That is why my neighbors are smelling it. Will all the O3 get sucked out through the fan just like CO2 would?

Wait...what? Are you running an o3 producer? If so you should NOT be running that in you're tent, very bad for you're plants. You're also running co2? if so you need to get a regulator that shuts off your ventilation while the co2 is being produced.
The carbon filter should be hung at the top of the grow space and then air gets pulled through it, then your reflector, then out the tent and into the attic.

Ok, here's what I have going on. I have 2 hoods in my tent with air being pulled through with a 6" fan. On the opposite end of the fan, I have a carbon filter. This is proving ineffective, so I'm looking for something gnarlier. Should I just get a better carbon filter? Or should I get an O3 producer?

I wouldn't get O3 generator.
I would get a bigger charcoal filter and bigger fans, and have more than one pulling through. You can also just buy a 10" fan/charcoal filter and have it setup in your grow area filtering the air in the tent continuously. This is how I take care of smell in my area.

I use this filter http://www.rvfgardensupply.com/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=701000
With this fan http://www.rvfgardensupply.com/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=736700
Just put them together and have it running and circulating the air in your grow space. Now how big of one is going to depend on you're grow space.

Hmm sounds like your filter is not in the tent? Its not supposed to be attached to the fan, but to the reflector. Maybe i'm confused? I made that mistake so gotta ask

the filter IS in the tent, but it ISN'T attached to my reflector. my fan is attached to the outside of my tent, with ducting going to the first hood, then ducting to the 2nd hood, then ducting to the filter.
So, Hawk, you just create a whole new filtration system and have it sitting in your grow space sucking in air, filtering it, then blowing out into the same space? If I were to do that, I'm just worried about all the air coming out of the back of the new fan (since I'm growing in a tent that is 4x8x6.5)

PS, it's times like these I love this site. Having the ability to ask hundreds of skilled growers "what do you do?" is such a fucking beautiful thing.

Yes it circulates and filters out the smell in your tent. Keep the other filter hooked up. When the air comes out of your ventilation it's already been filtered and will be smell free.

And you probably don't need the 10 inch for your tent space.

Right, I get all that. I'm just wondering if the exhaust from my "new setup" will create problems blowing all over the place inside my tent, ya know?

Nothing wrong with there being air movement inside your tent, it pretty much shoots straight up.
