White patches on leafs and what looks like bites?
    #624968 - 05/28/12 10:58 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

The strain is dutch passion blueberry, on week 4 veg. Since it was a seedling there were white "stains" on some leafs and now there are either burns or bites on the same leafs.
I inspected for bugs - nothing. Im not feeding it anything and watering only when very dry. oh and I have another bb which is doing fine in the same conditions.

No but water gets on them when im watering. Water can be causing this? The "stains" or the "bites"?

I can't see in the picture very well are there actual holes or just grey patches?

I've got grey spots on a couple fan leaves too....

It's both. there's holes in some leafs and some have pale patches. not grey and, now that i look closer, not white. Just very pale green. And it's been going on for a while, but the growth rate is the same as the other Blueberry i have going(even though its much shorter).

Also the tops have yellow tips, and they didn't before..still haven't fed anything. And i checked the ph of the runoff water a couple days ago, it was 6.5

If I had to guess, that looks like thrips damage.  Though the angle of your shots make it difficult to see clearly

but my experience with pot is pretty limited

google "thrips damage" and see if it looks similar.  Another good way to confirm would to take a sheet of white paper and shake the plant over it

If you have thrips, you'll usually see a few really small "worm", which are larval thrips

I checked the plant with a magnifying glass again, no signs of any bugs/larva on and under the leafs.

I don't know what's going on there in all honesty.  You're getting a little burn, that's probably just because this strain is a bit sensitive and FFOF has some guano and what not.

If it's growing vigorously then I wouldn't be overly concerned about it.

I see. But the problem is idk how vigorous it's supposed to be so I can't really be sure. At  5 weeks, in 1 gal pots it has 7 nodes. the tall one also has 7 but it's 8in taller.

Im planning to flower in a week max (space issues), do I still not feed since theyre getting hot?
Oh wait.. Do you mean hot as in ph is too low? I assumed u meant theres too much nutes.

Edit: side question; I was planning to transplant to 3 gal when I swich to 12/12 (a week max) but I heard that roots don't grow durring flowering, so would it be a whaste? Maybe I should transplant  asap and let the roots develop for a week?

Well it could be pH, but looking back your pH is fine.

The soil is just a little too hot.  Don't worry about.  Blueberry is notorious for being a finicky strain.

Even if you have 2 different plants that are the same strain from seed, they can show very different traits.

whats the temp are you keeping those suckers really close to HIDs?

how the leaves feel?

@Hawk: do you think its chlorosis? @Op You should check that nutrient thread on here and compare it to your leaves,

My patches went away,  but if yours are turning light green, then turning into holes, it sounds like patches are either disintegrating or getting eating by some sort of parasite.  Is the light green a sign of the leave thinning?

Don't get the impression that I am extremely knowledgable, I'm just trying to help as I learn

well the thing is, theres another BB, started on the same day, grows exactly the same down to watering time which is doing great.  So it cant really be temps (78-81 day/ 70 night btw) or what I put in the soil/water.

I checked for insects a LOT lol, nothing. But the pale patches dont turn into holes, some leafs got patches and others have holes.

I think it's just a weak phenotype, because it also is more sensitive to nutes. There also seems to be less and less of these so it'll prolly fix itself. I'll report the yield difference beetween the 2 blueberrys after harvest

any chance it could be a virus?  I know color breakage can be a sign of such in orchids, but again, my experience with mj is pretty limited
