My poor doggy

Took my dogs to a friends house , Then when we got home i noticed my male boxers left eye looked swollen. With in 5 mins his whole face was swollen. 5 mins after that he had huge welts all over his body about a inch in size (some bigger then others.) Covering his body. he was very itchy and bothered by them
Seeings how this all happened in ten mins i got really worried about him. I left a message on my vets "emergency line" but got no call back. So i drove to town and bought him Benadryl (read online thats how vets deal with bad allergic reactions)
I gave him the Benadryl and brought him home
This is a pic of him normal:
And here he is with his face still all swollen (hour after benadryl)
Its been 3 hours now, hes currently sleeping. I think some of the bumps have gone down, but his face still looks swollen. Hes also snoring sooo loud.
Im thinking he rather got bit by wasp as soon as we got home (one side got swollen first). Or he was allerigic to the treats he ate before he left (doubtful... hes never had a reaction before).
Ill call vet in the morning, Anyone ever see or here of a reaction like this?

Hey man, I'm a Vet Tech. That's a typical allergic reaction to something like bug bite, or sting. Benadryl was the right course of action, the only other thing your vet would have done is give your dog an injection of it instead. As well as a quick acting steroid called Dexamethasone SP.
I'm Guessing you dog weighs 40-50 pounds? If so you can give up to 75 mgs of benadryl on the high end.

ya i gave him 2.5 pills (25 mgs each). hes about 60 lbs
It was scary to see him swell up that fast. Is it common for them to get welts when they have allergic reactions ?

And you could go up to 100 mgs at that weight without any issues.

Awwwwwwwwww, hope your dog is ok!
-------------------- Of course it's happening inside your head.
Why should that mean it isn't real?
