 How useful are male plants?

I fergot and I know I can search it but can you clone male plants?
If you have enough trimmings is there anything you can do? make hash? dry it and make some sort of hemp cloth? I thought hemp can be used for a bunch of things. Plus when exactly is the sex of the plant determined?
I heard that if you dry out banana peels and keep em' in a bag with pre germinated seeds that you'll get a higher female/male ratio... izzat true?
Am I wrong?

The top leaves and flowers can be used for edibles too.

Bad advice. They contain VERY little amounts of THC. And why the hell would you want to have male plants growing just to get big enough to make some edibles? This is just going to release a bunch of pollen into your grow area. And if it's outdoors you'll end up pollinating someones outdoor crop.

no, cloning a male plant does not result in a female clone. it results in an identical copy of the plant you took the cutting from.
