 What to do with male plant.

My first male has made his presence known and seems to be nice and strong with good genetics, I have a few females i would like to pollinate a little bit of to get a few seeds but not the whole female plants, I'm seeking some tips on how to keep the male from pollinating the females when growing outdoors, and how to collect and keep the pollen , and also how to pollinate a small part of the female for some seeds. i was considering making a makeshift greenhouse around him out of gladwrap or something or moving him into a shed which light will still reach him from.
I'm also curious about what i can do with the male plant aside from pollinating the females, is the trim still good for making hashish or edibles?

if you want some seeds but not tons then you could use a qtip or somethin to spread some pollin around to where you want,, you can also freeze the pollin for later use...but by the time their ready for you to take pollen they most likely have already pollinated some of your feemales.... .... I say chop him down and make some brownies!!

The only way to isolate him is to take a cutting and clone him. If you want pollen I'd say clone him, put him directly into 12/12, harvest pollen when he's mature, and then dab it on to the buds you want to pollinate outside with a water color paint brush.
If he's outside in the ground near your ladies, he will pollinate them with almost absolute certainty.

gah, see the problem is i dont have any lights for growing him indoors, i guess i'll just chop him, preflowers were shown this week, how long do i have before he is jizzing all over the place?, i will post a picture of him once i find my camera, because im not sure he is big enough yet to get a batch of brownies.

Well how long he has depends on what your lighting is doing. Once day light hours get down to 13 hours or so of daylight and increased dark time it would start to flower.
Just chop it down or buy a couple of flouros if you want to get the pollen from it.

You'll know when he is pollenating because the little banana looking structures will show a divide, where the pollen will come out. If you give one of these mature pollen sacks a flick with your finger, you will probably see a tiny *poof* of pollen. Make sure you keep it isolated from your females if you do this.

Males do have some active cannabinoids, but not much potency-wise. I have never tried making brownies from a male, but maybe Dr. Siekadellyk has and can shed more light on the potency, but I was of the thinking that it was very weak, to say the least.

I have made some brownies from males once, I used 3 descent sized mid flowering male plants to make 2 small batches of brownies that were pretty good! although nothing spectacular it is possible you just need to use more fat(butter/oil) than normal to be able to extract from all the plant matter, thus making you make more brownies with the excess butter causing you to need to eat a couple brownies to get a descent effect (but im not complaining, I love brownies ).....plus lots of simmering and filtering....... but seeing as how that male is kinda skimpy it probably wouldnt be worth your time....

Vegetative growth shoots, leaf stalks, and leafs on both male and female are virtually identical. Its the flowers that hold the difference. Female buds are most potent but also the males flowers would be more potent then a females vegetative growth shoot. Your plant seems very mature and could hold at least 5 percent THC when comparing its overall weight. So brownies dont seem that out of the ordinary. Personally i dont like wasting materials of any kind so this i would do.

Its a kool learning experience, especially if your just sittin around on a sunday smokin a joint. ... I mean why not, people just throw the males away anyway, unless you dont have enough of the right ingredients of course...you could even throw in a few buds during the process to heighten the potency if your skeptical of wasting your time....

I would let it dry and make some butane honey oil out of it but that is just me.

I think maybe a high fat extraction like olive oil or even glycerine would be your best bet with the male. Potency varies widely with butter extractions.

i got some stems and things off flowering female so i think il make a batch of brownies out of the male and them, my plant has alot of balls now, is there any pollen in them ? i have all the ingredients for some brownies either way does anyone have a good tek on cannabutter? i cant really be bothered doing an olive oil extraction
