First Guerilla Grow

*First Guerilla Grow*
Hi everyone. I'm starting this outdoor grow log because I need input. If anyone can learn from my experience or use this log as an example, thats a plus.
I have only one indoor grow under my belt, which was with questionable genetics, straight from a handful of bag seeds. Through this experience, I gained what I feel is invaluable knowledge of the organic processes of plants. The project had very positive results IMO.
I would not have done so well if I had not been aided by the Shroomery and the great mushrooms, whom I feel have actually taught me how to learn. My experiences with the mushrooms were painstaking, and I began to approach everything with a meticulous attitude. This carried over into many aspects of my life, including this project and the previous.
I will be excitedly documenting my guerilla grow. This is the first issue: security. I am putting this up for anyone to see, and anyone with enough focused intent could compromise the operation. However, no one in my geographical vicinity, who is outside my family, will I tell of this project.
I have been hiking constantly in the past few weeks, hunting morels and at the same time surveying prospective tree lines. I have come up with a few spots that turned out to be too close to foot/horse/atv traffic. So, I turned to Google Earth and found some more secluded pastures right away. Tomorrow, I will be investigating these new areas and gathering soil samples. I want to test the ph and texture. It also happens that there are soil testing facilities nearby, so I might go ahead and do that for the first time.
I will be observing the new area's south-facing tree lines, vegetation that will help camoflauge, water sources, and signs of human traffic. Right now, my knowledge of the movement of the sun throughout the seasons is limited. This is becoming of greater concern and I plan on educating myself before ultimately deciding on the plots.

I HAVE FOUND MY HAPPY PLACE!
It is filled with thorns and thick vegetation. It is on public land. It is gruesome territory and will require lots of work to penetrate. I love it. The area was most likely a logging site that has overgrown with multi-flora rose and small trees. The area receives ideal sunshine and I am no longer restricted to tree lines. I will post pictures on my first day of engineering my paths.

I too, am doing a GG. I will be watching this one for sure. I still have a few weeks before it will be good to plant, though. Good luck on yours.

well i got in them bushes todayyy. never felt so good to be in a thorny mess like that. decided to use a fallen tree as my entrance. it will be easy to identify as well as hide the tracks.
annnnnnd, there were some "no hunting" signs up as i was making my way to the spot, so I'm glad that the law enforcement is on my side for this one; the less human traffic the better. however, i found some real fresh scat around my plots so its gonna be me vs. ravenous deers. thinking i might invest in the lion piss depending on how much it is. im gonna check and see if there arent any plants i could grow alongside to deter them.
the soil testing facility works as such: take a bag, fill it up, return bag, pay about 5 dollar fee, receive results online. im gonna test the soil for shits and grins. meanwhile, im deciding what to cut the soil with, to give it that loamy texture: peat, coir, perlite, compost, gypsum...its convenient enough that I can haul in bags throughout the month. i want to spend as little money as possible, but with the best results.
im considering the size of the holes i want to dig, or how much soil i want to tend to...was thinking about 4 square feet and about 2 to 3 feet down. anyone got suggestions?
the next decision is genetics....i want some jillybean....i dont have very deep pockets....so of course i want yield, but quality is important. o man, its hard to decide!
Fallen tree leading straight up the ridge:
This is the entrance, very center is the path...indistinguishable in the picture, but that's the frippin idear:

Looks like it will be a pretty decent spot man. The dimensions you stated seem adequate. Roots will probably go beyond what you dig out anyways.

Cool. I was guessing on the dimensions. I left my book, The Sensimilla Technique, at home in the southwest. Its from 1982 and all about guerilla. All the pictures in the book are of sativas, and it only discusses metal hallide.
Any suggestions for an affordable, quality outdoor strain?

All strains are outdoor man. What it depends on is your growing season. So what you need to figure out is when day light hits 12/12. And when the temps is going to start hitting below 40f at night.

Not to accuse you of anything, but I hope you plan on being an eco-friendly guerrilla grower, meaning NO waterpumps, NO fertilizer in the ground, and NO trash of any kind left behind. I realize hand watering can be quite the task, but it is absolutely necessary IMO. Polluting streams is not okay, it's bad for the environment and for the reputation of growers everywhere.
Also, you should figure out a way to keep deer away from your plants, they'll eat 'em up quick. That was the biggest problem I had anyway... (Edit: You did take this into consideration already )
Good luck.
