I've been a regular cig smoker since I was 13-14
I've had trouble breathing these last 2 years
I have half a carton left
Hopefully, I have it in my mind good enough this time to stop ....For good

i have found the only way to quit an addiction is cold turkey. people always seem to complicate the matter by analysing it way too much. what is the worst that could happen? a few days or weeks of mild irritation? that is ultimately a very short time and by making the change it will ultimate benefit you in many ways and probably even prolong your life. positive change always happens fast. psychologists and councillors seem to have this backwards which is probably the reason many patients seem to get worse and keep coming back. if their methods actually worked the patients wouldn't have to keep coming back. imagine having a strict swami guru ascetic standing at your side 24/7 or my girlfriend. she is an excellent lion tamer. she never loosens her grip upon the whip. GOOD LUCK!

Good luck bro!

We are both doing this fight together op. I'm on my last 3 smokes then nothing. Pretty tough after 10 years of a pack a day

I bought a few before. One was $5 at the gas station and was disposable it had "500 puffs" . Another I bought was a rechargeable and refillable one for $18 at the tobacco store. This one was pretty sweet. Might have to go dig it out. I had forgotten about it

how old are you?
i started smoking cigarettes when i was around 11ish (every day when i was about 13) and i just quit at the beginning of January, i'm 26. maybe i am a freak or something but i didn't find it that difficult once i found other things to do with my time. the first week i had problems with being generally irritated and grumpy but that was my body withdrawaling from nicotine, once that's done it's the mental part that needs breaking which just takes a modicum of will power and isn't that hard.
i guess i shouldn't speak so soon as it's only been 3 months since i quit, but i have no desire to have a cigarette even when i'm around my friends who all smoke.

Pff....I don't sleep for shit these days. Seems like I'm always up until at least 6-7 in the morning. And then only sleep for like 4-5 hours. And no drugs around to help me sleep either, or at least willing to pay for.

even with drugs i don't get to sleep until at least 6am and i only sleep 4-6 hours, 6 if i'm lucky. it's not really a normal schedule though, didn't fall asleep until almost 10am yesterday (26hrs awake) and woke up at 2pm and i'm still awake now.

This is pretty much how my whole family kicked tobacco and have had zero issues so far. Ditch what you have left of that carton and get a gym membership. And don't be a little bitch and stop going after a week, once you start getting a routine it's hard not to hit the gym.
And smoke LOTS of pahwt, if you can still manage the motivation to go to the gym while stoned you'll notice a general increase in motivation and productivity when your high. So when you get stoned instead of wanting to eat and sleep all day you'll want to get out and do something.

TLDR;
In my personal experiences: if you can quit the first time STAY QUIT.
For everyone I know (including myself) who's quit the first time it was easy. My first quit was for a year and half, cold turkey, it was easy.
Since then it's been impossible. So if you quit the first time, STAY QUIT.

i smoked cigs just shy of 10 yrs. marlboro reds were my brand of choice. i began to have some breathing issues.....every time i laid down I'd feel like someone was literally sitting on my chest...I'd start coughin and shit. I'd cut back on smokin and it would go away....but eventually I'd begin smoking heavier again and the problem would resurface.
the patch worked for me once...but after a few months i caved. honestly what it boils down to is how much you want to rid this nasty habit from your life.
for me everything came full circle after watching my grandfather slowly die from renal failure. his lungs slowly filled up with fluid (over the course of weeks)..... watching him struggle to breath during the last week of his life was the most frightening thing i have and hopefully will ever have to experience.
i never picked up a smoke again.
thats what made me wanna quit. everyone has their wake up call.
I'd suggest doing some cardio. it'll help get all that nasty shit outta your lungs and during each cardio session you'll begin to notice a HUGE difference in your breathing as the days pass.
good luck man....... to adding yrs if not a decade or so onto your life!
