I've tried searching the internet and the forum but cannot seem to be able to find any information on the use of LED lights and their implications compared to traditional lighting system/phases.
Thoughts, links, information?

No offense taken from a smart ass like yourself.
Furthermore, I only opened this discussion with the sole intention of discussing the topic rather than being told to go back and search. What the hell kind of crap is that?
If you couldn't respond by anything more useful than that, why respond at all?
Specifically written as is: "but cannot seem to be able to find any information on the use of LED lights and their implications compared to traditional lighting system/phases."
Hello, wake up, lets do a little thinking before we're quick to being a cocky cool guy.

LEDs are a touchy topic. Some units work well, and others aren't worth the material they're made out of.
Do you have a unit in mind? I've tested many different LED units over the past two years or so. I still find that the 6 band units with 3 watt or greater chips work the best.
Most LED companies lie about the square footage of coverage as well.
You should read carefully before ordering because some LEDs are made for different phases of growth such as veg and flower, tho in most cases the flowering units veg well.
LEDs still have a ways to go, before they are perfect, but they are coming along quickly these days. Tho prices are still high as fuck.
I'll try to answer any questions you have, tho I admit I don't know every thing.
Also would like to point out the related threads, just below the quick reply box, near the bottom of the page.

"I opened this topic with the sole intention of discussing a topic..."
Lieing again, you opened it because you "couldn't find" info on LED lighting.
By going to google.com and searching the title of this thread, u found 4 great, reliable sourses that will each answer your questions.
"If you couldnt respond w/ anything usefull why respond at all?" 1I feel like it 2my answer was helpfull 3im a troll who has no life
Thanks for the complements (smartass, cocky cool guy).
Stop lieing. Start reading.

I use the 90w ufo from htg supply with the 2 w lights. Works awesome for veg. Haven't used them for flower though.

I just bought a LED from hydro grow- seems to be the daddy of LED's from the reviews and testimonials that i have read... It was really expensive, but hopefully worth the cost in production and power savings. I will certainly update you as soon as it gets into action...

heck yeah i did- and if it works like its supposed to I'll buy 2 more in the next 4 months. If the power savings claims are accurate as well as the yield claims- the only decent reason i can think of NOT to buy one is if you don't have the money to buy one up front. As it stands, my 600w HPS's have been producing enough to cover every expense i have had in my grows, plus a good amount of upgrades- and if the LEDs from this company are even close to what I've read, they will pay themselves off rather quickly. That and no more living in fear of my house burning down with my dogs in it while Im at work is exactly the kind of peace of mind thats worth it to me to buy them- I hope they work really well too. I'll certainly let you guys know how they work as this crop progresses.

I can understand about the fire hazard and the power savings... I didn't notice a huge increase in power usage when I went to HID but I only have 1 400w. I also worry about fires which keeps me home alot.
led's are great but they don't cover that large of an area... also the lights last forever, but the fans and other parts die before the LED's themselves. Hope you got a warranty on them for that price. Hope they work well for you also! Some that have been claimed to be the shit are garbage. Make sure you keep a grow log cause I and Im sure alot of others would like to see what happens

I did some research on LED's while I'm in the process for saving for some. I got good info from links off High Times and some info from reddit trees that substantiated that good info. I can't remember any specific brands off top but I've heard ufo's are very efficient for veg but you may have to tinker around a bit to get a good ratio of wavelengths for flower.

Good- I am glad to hear that someone has gotten some positive information. I have spoken with HydroGrowLED several times, and they say that they developed their spectrums specifically for cannabis and they of course say that these lights should flower very well. I suppose they have to say that, but in all honesty if they don't work for flowering, i am going to send them back anyway because they have a 90 day money back guarantee.. So if they are lying, they are going to get their lights back. Ill be starting flowering in the next week or 2 so i will keep you guys apprised of the progress. Hope all is well everyone

Hi folks! i hope everyone is doing really well!
I am under 3 weeks from harvesting my first plants using the Hydrogrow LED 336x-pro, and i will not be sending it back. The buds it has produced are large, dense, and look and smell terrific- with more than 2 weeks left until harvest. I can't with any accuracy say exactly the difference i am getting from my 600w hps's because there was a major change in my nutrient usage as well this harvest... But i can safely say that the 336x-pro (albeit VERY expensive) will most certainly produce large, dense buds. I can't wait to harvest these ladies. I will post some pictures when i get this all together. i have been taking pictures since day 1 so ill share them asap. hope all is well
