DIY really simple flood and drain system for 2 plants made out off stuff lying around the house as listed
5 litre plaint bucket (well cleaned out of of course ) for reservoir 2 500g butter tubs (cleaned out again ) old shower head thingy no the one that sticks on end the taps old water pump from my oul fish tank
drill two holes at two of the corners on the paint bucket lid and one in the corner of each butter tub just big enough for the hose to fit threw as in pic 2 drill a hole about 1/4 inch from the top of each tub for the over flow pipe and two holes on the bucket lid to feed the over flow pipe threw as in 2 and 3
feed the pipe threw the bucket lid and into the tub using the holes at the corners then seal it all up with silicon or some other sort of sealer just need make it water tight where you fed the pipe threw
then add the pump
add 2 liters of water to the reservoir put the lid on and feed the wire out a little hole in the lid
as you can see the water runs up then when it gets to the over flow pipes it empty's back into the reservoir splashing and aerating the water in turn aslong as your over flow pipes let more water out thats getting pumped in it shouldnt over flow
running this with no medium it fills the tubs in 48 secs and when turned off empty's in 1 min i have put the lids on in the pic but if fill with medium and cut holes in the top to allow for planting think this will work great even better than some the stuff you can buy at crazy prices with my fridge conversion being put together at the min i am 1 step closer to getting it running and i can fit two of these in it aswel
