The basics for simple grow?(noob)

Hi guys! I've been lurking around on the forums for a while and have gained a bit of knowledge,But I would like to know a couple of things before I start my grow.
I plan on growing 24 plants/Critical mass and would like to do so with the most basic and cheap set up.
I plan on growing indoors with CFL's through the whole process if possible.
I'm really just looking for the cheapest set up,Until I get the cash to expand.

I might want to add that I do not care about odor,as its not an issue for me.
What can I use to pot the plants? will 5 gallon storage containers suffice? and if so how many will I need?

24 plants will take a lot of cfl bulbs man. For the amount of money you'd spend on that many bulbs you may as well buy a 250 watt hps and increase your yield.

FFOF soil. And 3 gallon grow bags. Now 24 plants is still a lot of plants even for a 250 watt. I would go with 4 plants.

Alright I just bought 3 250 watt HPS. That should be enough for at least 12 plants, correct?

12 small plants yes. What kind of reflectors did you get? Air cooled?? Remember your going to have to keep the room your growing in nice and cool.

I'm not sure what kind of reflector. says it has tempered glass shield and is easiest to cool.
I can keep the room fairly cool, around 74 degrees is the usual temp. of the room. Fahrenheit.
On 12 plants, And a high level of care for the plants, what will critical mass yield with HPS lighting? I'm looking to cash crop this and use the funds to expand and upgrade my grow room,so if I could get a estimate on my yield it would help me plan the next grow more accordingly.

To many variables to guess final yield, experience being a huge factor. But Critical Mass is one of the heaviest producing strains out there.

Experience being key here. 750 watts and I would yield a pound. Don't expect that type of outcome though.

What strain / method would you use for that?

Well i would use my own personal strain which is a trainwreck mix. Soil in at leas 15 gallons of soil with co2 since I don't have a bunch of fresh air exchange in my setup. But there's a lot of variables such as knowing the strain and what levels on nutrients it wants at what times.

alright so I just switched my game up.
I decided instead of critical mass, I'm gonna go with lowryder 2,10 plants on 1000w hps system with aircooled hood reflector.
I returned my lights that I previously bought, and Still have my Critcal mass seeds for my next grow.
I figured autoflower would be best for my first grow.

That'll work just fine. Remember you going to need to buy inline fans and what not for it.

Yeah,I'm looking at some right now. I'm hoping for at least an ounce per plant,Do you think thats a long shot?
Thanks for the assistance man, I'm going to stay active on the Growery for sure. Lots of great information, and helpful people on this website.
When everything gets in I will be starting a grow journal on these lowryder so that I can get the critique that I need.

Personally I hate auto flower seeds. But a oz per plant is a good goal to start with. Though for getting the hang of growing I think you probably should have gotten some experience in using regular seeds.
