cut damaged leaves?

My babes are maturing past the seedling phase but they underwent a harsh potassium drought due to my careless experimentation with MG. Only the bottom set of leaves were affected in a severe way- only about a 5th of green remains in them but they have healthy petioles.
My question is, will I be doing more harm than good if I cut the damaged leaves off? I read that leaves never recover a potassium deficiency, so is it dead weight hindering growth?
The reason I doubt is because it is generally agreed upon not to cut the sun-leaves during flowering, even when they yellow from the nitrogen deficiency. There are arguments both for and against this though. I'm also no where near worrying about stunting bud growth at this point.

Well if you gently tug on them and they come off then they're ready. If they don't leave em be.
