16. How much experience do you have growing? First grow, total noob!

Hi all,

I noticed this damage to a leaf a few days ago, but I cannot tell if it has gotten bigger since then. I've seen tiny bugs that seem to have wings moving around the soil, but nothing on the actual plants.

Is the damage caused by these tiny flylike insects?

Just so you know, I ran into Nitrogen deficiency, and have corrected with fish emulsion. Plants are cuurently indoors, but did spend its first 2 weeks outdoors in the backyard on a table.

Pictures will be up shortly

First pic shows a section of a damaged leaf, a small hole, I'm not sure what from

Second Pic has some yellow discoloration as well as the leaf thinning out. Will this develop into a hole also? Do they look like mites?

Not mites.  Mites don't chew holes in leaves.  They actually suck the juices flowing through the leaves of your plant.  Damage shows up as little spots on fan leaves.  Just keep an eye on your plants to make sure that your don't see any increase in damage.

I would also throw some diatamaceous (sp?) earth on your soil to help with whatever bugs your dealing with there.

Ok thanks.
diatamaceous (sp?) earth. Never heard of it?
Is it readily available at a gardening or hydro store?
Does it go by an easier name that i'll remember lol?
If not i can always write it down, haha

Thanks

Write it down.  ANY garden store, home depot or lowes or hydro shops will have it.

Thanks fella's
I'm considering switching to soiless when I transplant.
Still haven't decided if I'm gonna just leave them in pots, try my hand at a DIY Recirculating DWC, or maybe some bucket bublers. Decisions decisions:eek:

man dwc is actually really easy.  I'm on my first grow and everyday I take about 30 mins for the plants.  I have 3 bins with a total of 9 plants.  Ph and ppm check maybe a top off and done.  Water change once a week.  The growth is much faster than what I have seen in soil.  My plant grows about an inch a day.

Cool. Well I will probably try it on my next grow.
Got a pack of 10 heavy duty fruity seeds I plan to DWC.
