So far i've positively identified half of my ten plants. Four are male and one is female. The first four I was able to identify were males. So one female is making me happy now. It sucks that the males were my tallest and heaviest plants. I wonder if this has to do with storing the seeds for 2 years in my fridge. I got 100% germ rates with them, really quickly too. So, I have no idea what the fuck is causing these things to be male. It really pisses me off. I'm just gonna do clones for a while, until im ready for breeding stuff. FUCK! Use this thread to bitch about your male plants when all you want are females.

It's always that way. Males will show first and will usually be the biggest best looking plants. Lamesauce.

tell me about hating males. for what reason i still do not know, i popped 9 seeds and 3 clones in my DWC setup. biggest fail ever! when i learned i had 8 of the 9 were male...UGH! well, when i went to pull em all the root balls were totally grown together. tried like hell to pull em apart to no avail. so i chopped all but 1, in hopes i could collect some pollen for selective pollination. well i managed to collect a bunch of pollen which i have stored in the fridge. also succeeded in totally pollinating the whole bunch. and furthermore after about 3 weeks all the ones i chopped roots started rotting and molding....ARRRG WHAT A MESS. managed to pull most of the roots out at this point, and continue on to a pretty hefty amount of seed. that's my totally fucked experience with males in a DWC!

See, I used to think this too until my most recent bagseed adventure. I had 3 plants I KNEW would be males because they were growing so good, but 2 of the 3 were females.
Just goes to show, theres no fucking telling until it comes down to it. It really is the luck of the draw.

Next time you guys pop seeds, try this.
Light blue
Hours on 16 or 17 hours.
Temps 78 to 82F.
Low ppm's until the 4th week.
Been doing this the last couple years, and my male to female retio has changed a lot.
Only three males in 2 years, with better than 50 regular seeds popped.
Don't know if it was the method or the breeders.
I think Inverted posted about this method a few years ago.

top work a female scion onto your male rootstock. i have dont MJ grafts and they work relatively easy.
multiple strains on one plant too

In my current closet grow, I got some quality genetics (non-feminized) and wanted to make some seeds so as to never have to buy again. Every other time I got like 4 males out of 6. This time I got all 6 females.
The bastards knew I wanted seeds!

no, there are environmental influences at play. At least that's my understanding after having read a few books on the subject. Stress can lead to the development of male plants. I really try to provide an ideal environment for these things. The temps don't ever get above 85 or below 63, the lights aren't burning them, there's plenty of airflow on the canopy (and even below it), they had 18 hours of light and 6 hours of undisturbed darkness as well. Feedings occurred four times a day at 6 am and pm and 12 am and pm. I would flood the tray for 20 minutes total each time. It takes about 5 minutes to fully flood and start draining at the top. So they are submerged for about 15 minutes each time, or an hour out of the day. Sooo, i really can't think of much that I didn't do to help promote a feminine outcome. The only thing i can think of is that the seeds are just old and/or I just had some bad luck.

I always get a Huge female to male ratio when I grow,and last year I only got about five males out of nearly 30 females! They say Higher Nitrogen applications stating out at seedling stage makes more females,which I indeed do,but I don't know how reliable that theory really is.We still need males though,to breed with,or all our Awesome strains would eventually be lost.Also,contrary to what people say,my 7 foot males got me ripped as hell!!!Some Males can be just as potent as females,and I know this 100 percent  But I agree when growing only for females,males suck!!!
